I’m instantly instantly impressed with this. A facial moisturiser to balance oily/combination skin, it’s one of the rare few that actually feels (and is) hydrating at the same time. Not all of us combination-skinned people want a tight-feeling gel formula or something that’s fluid and light.. Some of us, especially getting into the centrally-heated months, need something a little heavier that will hydrate the majority of the face whilst keeping the oily bits under control. Step forward ‘Yes to Tomatoes’ – I don’t like the name but the product is insanely good, especially for the price. Thick and almost greasy when dispensed from the pump-action bottle, it has a pleasing smell and a rich, luxurious consistency.
Bad for oily skin, then? You’d think so, wouldn’t you? But no – the formula absorbs quickly leaving the skin feeling hydrated and soft, but not greasy in the slightest. The effect isn’t ‘matte’ by any stretch of the imagination, and if you have a proper, full-on oil-slick problem during the day then perhaps use sparingly on the T-Zone, but that aside, ‘Yes to Tomatoes’ really does seem to balance and calm the skin and leave a perfect canvas for makeup application. I’m assuming that the tomatoes are also included for their antioxidant properties, but I have no idea how much of the formula is tomato, so your guess is as good as mine on that particular issue. High up on the ingredients list, though, you have Rosemary (the balancing element?) and Camomile and Aloe (the calming elements, I assume) so I’d hazard a guess that these are the main players alongside the tomato extract. Organic tomatoes, no less. I do hope that they’re not buying them from M&S Foodhall – they’d be bankrupt within a week!
