I promised just after Christmas that I’d do a proper post on the d.j.v. Beautinizer. There’s been a bit of a delay, but here we are with the post and a proper picture! Check me out with my deathly face and weird, psychopathic stare! Why, why, why did I think that taking the photo pre-maquillage was a good idea?
Photograph quality aside, what do you think of the effect? Just in case you’re totally bonkers, I’ll point out that the eye on the left has the mascara on it. (You never can be too sure who’s reading!) Pretty nice volumising and lengthening, in my opinion. I mean, anything would be an improvement on the ‘invisi-lashes’ to the right, but I’d say that the Beautinizer does a very decent job.
But do you know what I like most about this mascara? Why it has been my most-used since Christmas? It’s because it behaves like a waterproof mascara, but it’s easy to take off! Yes, I know that sounds a little far-fetched, but it’s true. This mascara doesn’t budge, not one bit, until you remove it under very specific conditions. You can workout in it, cry in it, walk through a rainforest in it – so long as you don’t apply warm water and then rub, it won’t move. Try getting it off with an oily remover – no chance!
Instead of ‘painting’ the lashes, the Volume Lash forms little tubes around each one, almost laminating them or putting them into little mascara socks. To remove, you simply use warm water to loosen the ‘tubes’ and then either gently massage the lashes or use a muslin cloth to press against the eye area and lift the mascara tubes away. It’s so quick and easy – nothing like the long (and painful) process of removing the tar-like waterproof formulas.
Best of both worlds, then; a mascara that behaves like a waterproof version but that’s quick to remove. It builds reasonable volume – just one coat and lashes are lengthened and thickened – and it looks as fresh at the end of the evening as it did when you applied in the morning. What more can you ask for?
Volume Lash is £18 from Cult Beauty. (There’s free shipping worldwide for orders over £60 this week, code is BEAUTYSHIP. Excludes Escentric Molecules Fragrances.)
