I love the idea behind this palette. It’s not the sleekest thing in the world, but it allows you to take your favourite Urban Decay shades and create your own bespoke eyeshadow selection. Yes you could just keep the shadows separate, but there’s definitely an element of convenience to having them all in the same place.
The build-your-own palette comes with a free shadow called “Walk of Shame”. This is a brilliant natural shadow that’s exactly the same as my skin tone so it makes for a great base – or you can wear it alone to even out the tone of your lids and brighten the eye area. The shadow would usually cost £14 on its own, and the cost of the palette (with brush) is £14, so whichever way you look at things you’re getting something for free.
The shades I chose for my palette are (from top left to bottom right): Walk of Shame (included), Polyester Bride (good as a shimmery highlighter), X (perfect shimmery peachy nude), Secret Service (a matte cocoa), Snakebite (shimmery bronzey-cocoa) and Foxy, which is a more yellow-toned matte base powder.
I did a quick eye look the other day with three of the shadows – X over the lids, Snakebite to add a bit of depth and a highlight with Polyester Bride. You can see the result below, but I’ve actually filmed a video of this look too which I’ll post up tomorrow. If you can’t wait that long then you can check it out on my Youtube channel!
The build your own palette and all of the shadows (including loads of new shades that were previously only available in palettes) are at BeautyBay.com
