The Detangler

The DetanglerWow, this is a blast from the past! I remember my Mum buying Paul Mitchell’s The Detangler for my long, knotted hair, many moons ago. My little sister and I were instructed ‘not to touch’ the Paul Mitchell products because they were very expensive and only for grown-ups – using them felt like a real treat!

Fast-forward over twenty years and here I am with my very own bottle of The Detangler. Should I wish to, I could squirt it all over the floor or decorate a cake with it – it’s all mine! But actually, it’s far too precious to waste – this conditioner is every bit as useful as I remember. It’s touted as a super-rich conditioner, but the texture is light and non-oily. Within a few seconds, hair can be easily detangled (full marks there) and after rinsing, The Detangler leaves hair soft and tamed without weighing it down or leaving any kind of slippery residue.

This isn’t a heavy duty treatment (if you’re looking for something to strengthen and repair very damaged hair then you’ll need a masque or leave-in product) – this is a fuss-free hair smoother that works in a matter of minutes. It does exactly what it says on the tin and it’s perfect if you’re just after a bit of light conditioning. Not everyone, after all, wants or actually needs a heavy conditioner; if you’ve very fine hair you may find that some conditioners weigh your hair down. Equally, if you like to use a separate treatment oil when your hair is nearly dry (such as Moroccanoil or Mythic Oil) then you might only want a light conditioner when you wash – something to make the hair manageable after shampooing. The Detangler is spot-on for these situations, it’s a powerful tamer and smoother without making fine hair feel lank.

My Mum really did have impeccable taste when it came to beauty products!

The Detangler, RRP £16.75 but is £13.40 with free worldwide delivery from HQHair.com
