Sunday Tittle Tattle (noun?): everything from the week that I have forgotten to post about, in easy brunch-sized chunks…
1) ARGH! I have no idea why this didn’t post this morning – many apologies to those who were left disappointed, weeping over a cold and pointless plate of scrambled eggs. I’m actually not at home, having de-camped to my Mum’s for half the week, and I’m a little unwell. So, I update this with a pounding head, not helped by the fact that my parents have their Mac screen on “4 times” magnification and each letter is almost three inches high. Anyway: apologies – normal service will be resumed on Wednesday, when I’m back from filming at the Clothes Show Live.
2) I tried to make a chicory, blue cheese and pear salad the other day but it turned out to be a bit disappointing. I used a recipe from BBC Food. I really want to get that bitterness of the chicory and the strong blue cheese and the sweet pear, but with a knock-out dressing, and the dressing failed to really pull it all together. If anyone has an excellent recipe then please let me know!
3) From cooking to beauty; FeelUnique have up to 20% off fragrances until after Christmas, I think. Pretty good if you’re gifting perfume or thinking of snapping some up for yourself. I was browsing the virtual shelves looking for a mammoth version of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Classique scent (see Fragrance Wonderland video) and saw that lots of things were nicely reduced. Fragrance department is here<
4) Two products that I just can’t get enough of now: one old, one newer, but both used on an almost daily basis. Considering the amount of makeup that I test and use for shoots, filming and so on, it’s quite something to be coming back to certain products again and again. These will always be in my favourites, I think. The first is the Diorskin Nude Sunlight compact from Dior (above) – it gives a natural, barely-there glow to the skin. It comes in four shades (Sunlight is the second down) and the packaging is heavy and luxurious. It’s £37 with free delivery here.
The second is the Mary Lou-Manizer from The Balm – it’s a pressed illuminating powder that can be buffed onto the cheekbones and browbones for some sexy shimmer. It’s powerful stuff, so don’t go over the top, but this compact would probably last you a lifetime. It’s one of the first things that I ever reviewed for A Model Recommends and still amazing – it’s £15 with free delivery here.
Right, that’s me. I’m returning to bed with my new Hilary Mantel book and my iPad mini. If you’d like to sign up to the daily emails then the link is below – there’s one every single day, apart from – ironically – today!
