As I sit at my desk, for the eighteenth solid hour in a row, my mind turns to all things fresh and cool. Waterfalls crashing down a mountain, the dripping of a cold tap, ice in the bottom of a cocktail glass. It’s hot and sticky outside and it’s even worse in my office – it doesn’t help that my iMac heats up when it’s overworked and tired. It’s like typing in front of a furnace!
And so today’s facial spritzes are ones that are simply gorgeous for a little pep-up during the day. A mist of luxury that lifts your mood and makes your skin feel zingy and alive. I’m not going to lie: a lot of the reason that these face sprays are grouped together is because they looked good in a row. It was an artistic decision. But they do have something in common in that they all feel and smell luxurious – I use them all over my arms and chest and neck, not just my face. I stop short of doing my feet because none of these are particularly cheap! At any rate, feet get cooled with the best spray ever invented, Liz Earle’s Foot Spritzer.
So here we have, from left to right:
1) Love Your Skin’s Frankincense, Myrrh, Rose and Aloe Vera mist. Gentle, fragrant and actually quite soothing on skin that’s feeling a bit stressed or overheated. I like it a lot. It’s £19.99 from Love Your Skin.
2) Suti’s Peppermint Water Organic Face Toner. I don’t actually use this as a toner, I use it on top of makeup or what have you, throughout the day. Sometimes, especially in PMT week*, I want a spray that feels zingy and tightening and that doesn’t add moisture (for moisturising sprays see part one of this little run of posts). You only need a couple of spritzes of this to feel zingy again and it leaves a very clean feeling! This one is £18.50 from NutriBeauty. It’s incredibly simple – just an organic peppermint water – but great if you’re looking for a very pure product to refresh and revive.
3) Gazelli’s Triple Youth Hydra Radiance Face Mist. This one is a little more complex; it has an oil layer (Gazelli’s White Healing Oil) and then a gorgeous, fragrant mist. Shake them together and you’ve got a mixture of ingredients that promise to nourish, protect and rejuvenate. This really feels like a spa treatment product – it’s a gorgeous one to use if you’re doing a bit of a home facial. I like to waft some luxury facial spritz about if I’m having a proper pamper session in the bathroom! You can find this one at Urban Retreat at Harrods.com.
4) Oh hello – my favourite all-time spritz! This is Omorovicza’s Queen of Hungary mist and I must have recommended this about fifty times here on A Model Recommends. It’s an absolute treat and it smells so incredible that I often use it as a body spray! Gorgeous, gorgeous orange blossom makes it feel so summery – it’s one of my most relied-on pick-me-ups. You can find it at Omorovicza online for £46. Expensive, I know, but I bloody love the stuff so it’s well worth it. A bottle a year works out at £3.83 a month and if you use it wisely (ie on pamper nights rather than spraying it like a madwoman every second you get) then it should last out the twelve months. Don’t blame me if you become addicted though.. Queen of Hungary Mist
*if you’re in the US, you might call this your PMS week. Or simply PMS. Or you might use the global longhand for the time that is “the week before our menstrual period starts” which goes something like… GrrrFFFrrrrEffingWhaaaaStaytheF*ckAway!
