Softest Bras: The Freya Fancies Bralette

freya fancies bralette review

Eternally on the hunt for the softest, most unstructured bras I can find, I was overjoyed when this one from Freya came through my postbox for me to try. It’s the new(ish) Bralette from the Freya Fancies range and it makes a pretty and delicate change from the usual functional crop tops I end up putting on.

Now look: none of these soft bras and “bralettes” – including the maternity/nursing-specific ones, such as the ones from Emma Jane – do very much in terms of support. But during pregnancy, when even a badly-placed clothing label can drive me into an irritated frenzy of uncomfortableness, I care less about support and more about being able to move seamlessly from nap to real life without having to take items of clothing off.

Three Comfiest Trousers Ever…

Nap to real life, real life to nap. I try to nap a lot – if the baby naps, I am straight into bed. Wearing, usually, my Manuka yoga capri pants, a longline vest from GAP (these are great) and a soft bra.

Freya’s Fancies bralette brings a bit of girly prettiness to the soft bra arena without sacrificing comfort – pretty lace around the top and then quite a hefty band of lace around the bottom, which actually does a fairly decent job of stopping the entire garment from moving up and getting swallowed into the under-boob area. (Anyone else find that these soft bras sort of “disappear” at the bottom because the band isn’t wide or structured enough?) It makes this bra quite suitable for those with a more substantial bust – I’m currently at about 34E and, though I wouldn’t like to have to jog wearing it (or jog at all for that matter), it does OK for my low-impact lifestyle.

Essential Maternity Wear: Soft Things…

I love the chilli red version of this for a bit of pre-Christmas cheer, but there are other colourways including pristine white and (possibly the most useful) black. Find them online here – they’re £20.
