Two fruity little fig numbers for those of you who don’t like their fig scents too “green” and woody. Personally, I’m very fond of a greenish fig – I like the freshness of it and the feeling that you’re wearing something that’s not quite a perfume. It’s more organic than that – the scent of vegetation and leaves and bark – and I find that it tends to blend into background “skin smell” very well, making it great for the summer months. Very unobtrusive and clean.

Anyway, not everyone is drawn to the sharp greenness or woodiness of a typical fig fragrance and for those who long for something sweeter, fruitier and fuller, I present Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier and l’Occitane’s Figuier & Osmanthus. Both incredibly rounded and sunny, l’Occitane’s Figuier & Osmanthus is almost peachy in its fruitiness and has a slight muskiness to it that keeps things sexy rather than sweet; Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier promises the same jolly fruit-bowl but actually dries down to something a bit more seductive. Created by superhero-perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, it has sweet and velvety fig and a touch of zesty fruit, but after a few minutes things become very spicy and warm. Pink Peppercorn, the woodiness of Patchouli and a touch of musk. Very “long hot summer nights”, whereas l’Occitane’s offering is softer and sweeter and perfect for lazy warm days.
