Pantene Clarifying Shampoo

A top model-tip that I’ve had from quite a few hairdressers: Pantene Clarifying Shampoo.

Years ago, I kept getting a really flaky scalp, it was horrible, and I thought that I had developed (gasp!) dandruff. Not good for a fashion model, as you can probably imagine. However, it turned out that what was really wrong with me was that I had been overloading my hair and scalp with gunk. At shoots, my hair was being exposed to loads of different styling products, and in addition to this, in an ongoing attempt to make my dry, processed hair into a silken sheet, I had been slapping on copious amounts of moisturising products – shampoos, masques, leave-in conditioners, oils – that had built up on my scalp.

The solution? Clarifying shampoo. It got out all the residue and styling-product build-up that makes hair dull and greasy, and also treated my scalp to a bit of a spiring clean. Now, if I don’t use a clarifying shampoo at least once a week, then the familiar old itching returns, along with huge snowflakes of dried-out stuff.

This whole clarifying business doesn’t have to cost the earth; the most recommended product that I have come across, Pantene Clarifying Shampoo, costs a mere £3.99 for a 500ml bottle. I’ve been using this shampoo for ages, and it really leaves hair quite shiny and soft, but overall, absolutely clean.

So every once in a while, have a little hair-blitz and really scrub this shampoo in – I promise that you’ll feel the benefits. If you don’t feel the benefits of clarifying, which would surprise me, then it’s an inexpensive way to find out!

Pantene Clarifying Shampoo (500ml), £3.99, widely available.
