New Addiction: The IKEA PAX Wardrobe Planner

The IKEA PAX Wardrobe Planner

I have a new bad habit that’s taking up an inordinate amount of my time. But it’s good fun. And it’s free, unlike online clothes shopping, which was costing me approximately five billion pounds a year. Welcome, friends, to IKEA’s Wardrobe Planner. Build the wardrobe of your dreams, even if you don’t have any space for it! Create the walk-in of your wildest fantasies, even if you’re living in a shoebox-sized flat just off the Tottenham Court Road! Lose a few hours working out exactly how many shelves you need for your shoes and whether a 100cm drawer is needed for your lingerie or a 50cm would be sufficient… (Three 50cm drawers is good, three 100cm even better: one for pants, one for bras, one for socks. I’ve given this a lot of thought.)

This is the most fun I’ve had since my house renovations began. Who knew that running out of budget because of a big f*ck-off pipe appearing in the middle of your groundworks/everyone underestimating their costs/electricians charging the WORLD for putting a few wires together, would have such an addictive silver lining? Someone coming in and doing all of their fancy bespoke joinery would never have been as joyful as being able to sit here dragging-and-dropping Komplement drawers into place. And I’m saving myself thousands and thousands of pounds.

IKEA: I salute you. You did good. I’ll probably be another couple of months deciding exactly which combo I need (two lots of 200cm wide x 236cm tall, but what to put inside?! Which doors?!); just make sure you’re ready with all of the right parts, in the right colours, or else I’ll have to eat my words.
