1) Reve de Miel lip balm, NUXE, £9.50 (picture above). This is a pretty unusual lip balm in that it is totally and utterly ‘matte’. It’s quite an odd texture to get used to at first if you’re accustomed to using gloopy or softer balms, but it’s truly amazing. The effects last for ages and it’s one of the best balms for prepping lips before makeup.

2) Chantecaille Water Flower Fluid, £58. I adore this moisturiser because it’s absolutely light and oil-free. I often use it at night because I don’t want something too rich and heavy, but it also works beautifully before makeup. It’s delicately scented and applies like a dream!

3) NIA SPF30 Sun Damage Protection, £37. I used this over the summer and it was brilliant. Non-greasy, high protection, and contains pro-niacin to help improve skin tone and texture. It’s recommended for those people who want to treat hyperpigmentation, but it’s also a mighty fine preventative measure! A little goes a long way, and after an entire summer of use I still have loads left in the tube.

4) Shu Uemura Gentle Oil-in-Gel Cleanser, £25. My latest beauty obsession, and actually there’s a full review scheduled for next week. If you want a powerful makeup remover but can’t stand oily formulas then this could be your answer – fresh, purifying and simple to use. Skin feels toned afterwards but not tight – I’d say this is a great cleanser for all but the very driest and maturest of skins.
