Slipping in with my summer posts just before summer comes to an end – I’m nothing if not reliably tardy! I still haven’t done my 2019 sunscreens roundup and I remember setting aside time at the end of April to write that…
It’s fortunate that the majority of my summer best buys are actually even more useful throughout the rest of the year; a gradual tanner so foolproof you’ll never stop using it, a leg enhancer so perfect you’ll more than likely want to ditch the tights. These aren’t just top picks for when the sun’s out – the lightweight gels and invisible sunscreens are, for many, holy grail beauty items whatever the season.
A note on the gradual tanner that I’ve (always) picked out as my favourite, the Hylamide Glow from Deciem: it seems to have been discontinued. That’s a bit of a bummer when you’ve been harping on about something as much as I have. I’m endeavouring to find out what an earth has happened to it; in the meantime you can’t go wrong with the tan drops from Isle of Paradise, see links below. Clarins also do great gradual tan drops and I am a fan of both the Elemis and James Read overnight tanning masks, which don’t need mixing and are straightforward to apply.
You may also pick up on a glaring error in the video when I spray a load of Anthelios XL body sunscreen onto my face – I meant to use the facial mist. Obviously. It’s much lighter, I think, than the big can of XL SPF50 and it has a more matte finish.
So, go forth and examine my best beauty buy exhibits – there will be posts coming up on the Pixi Phenomenal Gel and the Kate Somerville SPF50 spray, both of which need a permanent home in my reviews section.

Great summer beauty buys!
hi ruth!
among those you indicated there are some more suitable for children under 5 years?
Hi Ruth! Which Chanel did you choose? The transparent one or the one with more pigment? Coveting this …
Hylamide Glow is available on Hylamide’s website still.
The Hylamide Glow still seems to be available on the Deciem website, and I’m fairly sure I saw it in store the other day (Westfield Shepherd’s Bush)

Hylamide Glow booster is on Deciem’s site this morning Ruth! Run to checkout, as you will have created a scrum lol. Unfortunately I can’t find the body version, so I shall begin whining to Deciem soon!
La roche posay have a spf 50 face mist. I’ve been using it all summer. great for “in the city over makeup” summers. Even possible to catch the kid on the go, that usually hates to be drenched in SPFs cream by his terrible mother (i.e. me). Don’t forget great for people with sun sensitive scalps – my friend didn’t burn her sensitive scalp all summer thanks to this one. Not sold in Sweden unfortunately, so I order from feelunique or easypharmacie.
