Liz Earle’s Sheer Skin Tint has launched and I have been giving it a little test-run this week. Although it is slightly heavier in formula than I’d usually use, I have had so many compliments about my ‘glowing tan’ so I have worn it for four days in a row. I haven’t even been in the sun properly since the end of July, so I’m guessing that it’s the makeup doing the talking! Sheer Skin Tint is Liz Earle’s first dip into colour cosmetics and die-hard fans are going to be queueing around the block for it, I would have thought. Those with dry skin can layer this over their regular moisturiser, those with combination or oily skin might want to apply straight to bare, clean skin – as usual, it’s entirely down to personal preference.

As I haven’t demonstrated this on video, I’ll try to describe the texture and finish a little more; it’s creamier and heavier than the average tinted moisturiser (Boots No7 looks positively watery by comparison!) but the finish isn’t heavy in the slightest. Dewy, sheer and ever so slightly illuminating, it gives a little bit of glow without making shiny areas look greasy. It doesn’t ‘slide’ over the skin and absorb effortlessly like many lighter-weight tints and as a result you have to work a little harder with blending-in, but the results are lovely. A subtle evening-out of general skin-tone and a delicate, translucent coverage. If this description is meaningless to you, then fear not for I will be guest-starring it in a makeup video very soon. I have been using Shade 2, which I’d say would suit fair/medium to medium skin tones. It gives my skin a nice amount of warmth, which I like, especially on a dull and rainy day! Performance-wise, the Sheer Tint actually works very nicely as a moisturiser regardless of the colour element – I have been using it on top of a serum in place of a moisturiser and my skin has felt plump and dewy for the whole day. The formula contains Borage and Avocado oils to lock moisture to the skin, and also a mineral sunscreen SPF15.

Liz Earle’s Sheer Skin Tint costs £21 for 40ml and is available from Liz Earle
