At the beginning of December I flew to New York to shoot the new KMS California campaign (which is why I came home blonder, and with a fringe) and after the shoot finished, I got given a humungous bag of product. This is one of the nice ‘perks’ of being a model – when you work for brands they like you to use their products and let them know what you think, and also they’re usually just quite generous. Hurrah!
Obviously I’m under no obligation to review the products here on A Model Recommends, as the modelling contract was something entirely separate to what I do here on the website, but I wanted to tell you about the ColorVitality Shampoo and Conditioner because I really like them. I have used nothing else for the last three weeks now, partly because I have had no bathroom and have been using the downstairs shower room, and those were the products that were down there (always the way!) but mostly because they have kept my hair really smooth and manageable.
The ColorVitality range is designed to cleanse and condition without stripping or fading colour (nothing groundbreaking there!) and protect the hair from UV damage. The claim that stood out for me, though was that the shampoo and conditioner would help to calm and soothe my scalp. I don’t apply conditioner to my roots so obviously half of that claim was immediately non-testable, but the shampoo did feel quite gentle. My scalp does tend to react quite frequently to various shampoos – never the natural, SLS-free ones, I should add! – but it was absolutely fine with this one. It lathered luxuriously but rather than making my hair feel dried-out and squeaky after rinsing, it felt really quite moisturised. Which is rare for my chemically-treated, oft-heat-styled hair.
The conditioner leaves my hair really soft, to the point where I don’t even need to comb it through, I just run my fingers through it whilst the water is running and it’s instantly detangled. This can be a problem with some hair types, as it makes it hard to style, but I do like the shine that it leaves.
Just thought I would be worth mentioning these seeing as I have used nothing else yet this year! They definitely feel gentler than many of the ‘professional’ or ‘salon’ haircare brands that I’ve used recently, and anything that also helps to stop my colour from fading is always welcome.
KMS ColorVitality Shampoo and Conditioner are £10.20 and £10.80 delivered, from FeelUnique.
I have used this shampoo for a while now and I enjoy the scent of this shampoo as it is very pleasant. I have not tried any other products as that is a must for me, however. I was not able to find this shampoo in a beauty supply store and it was perfect and arrived in good condition. Highly recommend!
