Dozing Beneath the Fig Tree…

fragrance review

I’m not quite sure how this fragrance has managed to pass me by. I thought that I was fully versed in the delights that Jo Malone has to offer, but apparently not! This Wild Fig & Cassis is, on paper, totally up my street – I adore fig fragrances and especially those that have a bit of an edge.

This one has a distinctly woody aspect – it makes me think of the bark of the fig tree, rather than of the leaves or the fruit itself. It transports you to a hot, Greek summer evening, lying drowsily on the baked ground as an ancient fig tree shades you from the last rays of the sun. Earthy and barky, thanks to the pine, musk and cedar notes, and a little touch of heady mediterranean magic courtesy of the jasmine and cyclamen.

Wild Fig & Cassis doesn’t tend to last an awfully long time, for me, but perhaps that’s because it’s winter and I’m used to wearing my more in-your-face fragrances. I’m going to try layering the Wild Fig with a few of my Cologne Intense scents, starting today with Oud & Bergamot. I’ll let you know how I get on!

Does anyone else wear Jo Malone’s Wild Fig & Cassis? I think it could be more of a summer scent but, as I said, I need to give it the full layering treatment. At any rate, I’m glad to have discovered it, it’s a very sexy little number. Find it at House of Fraser from £39 here.
