One for the lovers of light, pretty florals: Jo Malone’s Osmanthus Blossom cologne. Picture a spring picnic laid out on the lawn; peach melba, apricot tart, a sparkling wine poured into long-stemmed glasses – perhaps a scoop or two of a sherbety orange sorbet curled into a crystal bowl. Surround the picnic blanket with swathes of white flowers and take a deep breath: there you have the Osmanthus Blossom Cologne. Sorry if that description’s a little twee, but if I said “top note of Petitgrain, heart of Osmanthus and base of Cashmere Wood” it would mean precisely nothing to most people. I hate copying out fragrance notes – there’s never anything about them that entices me or makes me excited – so this is my attempt at some kind of scent “picture-painting”! A summery, peachy, flower-strewn picnic.

If peachy, flower-strewn picnics are your thing (scent-wise) then get yourself to a counter spit-spot, because the Osmanthus Blossom Cologne is limited edition. I can imagine that this will be popular, though it’s not quite my cup of tea. I’m still wearing my Jo Malone Cricket Pavilion Cologne (see here) which is zingier and sharper, alternated with Velvet Rose & Oud, a cologne that cannot be improved upon. Delicious.
