Jazzy Details: The Striped-Cuff Cardi

After my latest video I had almost as many questions about the cardigan I was wearing as the skincare products I featured – something about the striped cuffs seemed to really get people going!

Well I can reveal that the cardi is from Boden* – wool and cotton mix, machine-washable, £65. And yes I did choose it specifically for the stripy cuffs; when you spend the majority of your time filming yourself from the chest up, it’s nice to wear tops that have a bit of a print going on, or an interesting little detail on the shoulders or at the neckline.

In this case it’s the sleeves that do the talking – quite nice to have a flash of bold colour come on to the screen each time you wave your arms about or hold a product up to the camera. Although what the video didn’t show was the extra set of go-faster stripes up the back of the cardi – a jazzy little feature if ever I did see one.

(“Jazzy”. Something inside me dies every time I use that word. It’s up there with “trendy” and “bonk”, a word my Mum still insists on using whenever she refers to the act of sexual intercourse. I mean she doesn’t talk about sexual intercourse a lot, let’s not give the wrong impression here, but she does like to throw the B word into the conversation every now and then. Mostly to watch me cringe.)

You can find the Cassandra Cardigan here* – it comes in three different colourways, the grey you see pictured and then bright red* and dark navy. I must say that the red one feels very wintery and festive – and there’s something about it that reminds me of those old United Colours of Benetton adverts. I’m feeling all nostalgic…

*UPDATE* Boden have a 25% discount code running at time of writing – it appears to be A4H3, but I’m sure it will come up on the page when you go to the site so do double-check.

  2. Oh my! I have such a weakness for stripes! And, perhaps strangely, I also love the word STRIPEY. I may need this sweater (sorry I live in the US where we call these sweaters) Why do we call it a “sweater?” Who would want something that tells you it will make you sweaty? Although I don’t really understand “jumper” either….. Sorry for the strange musings… Thank you for the info on the stripes!

  5. The word ‘bonk’ or its usage in the phrase ‘she’s bonking x’…or ‘he’s bonking x’ is perfect.
It’s not threatening or dissing, if anything it’s affectionate and verging on wistful.
I’m between you and your Mother in age and it was (and still is in the same company a few times a year) happily and very effectively used to great effect. Even if we are mainly talking about events that happened 25 years ago!

  6. A4H3 doesn’t come up but a 15% code does – it’s out of stock for eight weeks but that’s when it gets really cold anyway, and Boden quality is amazing; I’m digging an A/W 2005 skirt out for this weekend.
