I have been pondering pyjamas. I’m in the market for some new ones – bottoms only, I can’t be doing with the whole shirt-and-trousers routine, not yet. Not pre-70. (I say that “in public”, but really I do quite like the matching sets. I have to come clean about this otherwise my Mum will embarrass me in the comments and tell you just how many pyjama sets she’s bought me and that I wear and love.)
In the photograph above I am wearing my favourite nightwear combo of all time: the “antique” bottoms from Hush with the sloppy joe sweater. Still my favourites, but they have to go in the wash every once in a while (birthday and Christmas, hohoho) and so I need to secure a reserve pyjama player. With that in mind, here are my contenders for this autumn’s pyjama prize.
1) The Plaid pyjama bottoms from Hush. £30. Lovely and soft, I imagine, if my previous Hush purchases are anything to go by! Find these here along with a whole wonderland of other good options. I think that these are my top pick, but carry on if you want to do some slightly redundant reading…
2) Mock ye not. I know that I’m precisely 15 years too old to be wearing anything “varsity” style but those trousers sure look comfy. And they’ll never leave the bedroom, so. Who cares? Lucky Mr AMR, eh? These are from ASOS.
3) Pretty pair from Elle McPherson – I like these a lot. (Find them here.) Shame they’re handwash only – you can guarantee that I’ll do my usual number with them and boil them in the hot wash when they get put in the laundry with the bedsheets. Latest victim of the hot wash: my cashmere bedsocks. They would now be suitable for a very small baby or a very large cat.
4) Again – mock ye not. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of 1990’s CK waistband! Did anyone else beg their parents to buy them the women’s Calvin Klein briefs when they first came out? LADIES’ KNICKERS THAT LOOKED LIKE MEN’S BOXER SHORTS! They were too expensive, I wasn’t allowed. Ah, the nineties. Relive them HERE.
Please add suggestions below – I am, as ever, open to them.
