I’m Sorry for Partying…

sorry for partying milly

Yes, I know: “partying” used as a verb. As bad as “holidaying”, in my books – where do you holiday? – but still. I wore it emblazoned across my chest on a Milly NY t-shirt: “Sorry for Partying”. I wish I had time to “party” – the most I’ve managed recently was a couple of red wines at my local Turkish restaurant! Not exactly rock and roll, especially when you have muddy jeans on and a pocket full of dog treats.

Anyway – from dogwalking to catwalking (thinking of writing a novel with that title, it’s too good to waste), zooming across London to attend the Burberry Prorsum Autumn Winter 2014 show. It’s always a bit of an affair – very Brit-cool, very slickly organised. For this season’s outfit, I decided to go a bit beigey with some print thrown in and then tone it all down with a casual t-shirt. I also wore my new favourite shoes from LK Bennett, the Jennie black and white courts. I have never had so many shoe compliments – I’m considering buying a backup pair in case anything tragic should befall these, but I know deep down that it would be just a bit excessive.

The skirt was found – for seven quid! – in the Topshop sale. I adore it. It’s so tight that I have to baby-step around in it (causing a gaggle of builders to shout “long night?” at me, which I thought to be rather unnecessary) but it’s brilliant for tucking shirts and t-shirts into and it looks equally good with a big knitted jumper.

The Burberry satin trench is a bit of a sore point; I bought it a year ago and have worn it once because I was too scared to get it dirty! It has been wrapped in tissue and hung up with my wedding dress in the spare room wardrobe. Now that I’ve broken it in, so to speak, I think that it’ll make regular appearances. I just needed to get over my fear. Does anyone else do that with prized possessions? Save them for so long that they are no longer in fashion, or they don’t fit, or the moths have eaten huge holes into the fabric?

You can see my outfit in full funky-cool technicolour (with soundtrack!) below – if you’re on email then please click here. There’s also a makeup tutorial sneakily slipped in – just a basic glowy-skin shadowed-eye kind of look, but it worked for the muted, beigey thing that I was going for. And some snippets from the show itself – lots of trenchcoats made from teddy-bear material and some shaky footage of Bradley Cooper sat on the front row. Enjoy!
