Clinique’s new Long Last Matte lipstick formula is, to me, pretty much faultless. It’s beautifully pigmented so you get a good, bright hit of colour and the matte finish is modern without looking dry or cracked. It’s possibly the most comfortable matte lipstick I’ve ever worn, too – you’d never know it was matte if you didn’t look in the mirror. I’d say that it moves a little more than those hardcore mattes that stick like car paint, but I don’t mind that. I’m guessing that’s why it’s “soft matte” – it’s an easy, wearable version of what can be quite a challenging makeup item. Velvety rather than…arid.
In the photograph I’m wearing Matte Mandarin (here) which could very well be my “shade of the summer”. It’s amazing. I rarely get so excited about a lipstick – even Mr AMR did an “ooh, look at you with your lipstick on!”, which is always a good sign. I’ve tried a few of the other shades, all lovely, but if I had to pick up ONE lipstick for a summer makeup bag update then this would be it. It’s £18 exclusively at Clinique.co.uk
