Why is it that at the start of every new year I want a brand new hair style? A totally new cut, a completely new colour – something dramatically different. I look at my hair, the hair that has been perfectly serviceable for an entire twelve months, and – for reasons that are a mystery to me – decide that something radical has to be done. That I must emerge from the hair salon looking like a completely new person. For the rest of the year I am happy with general maintenance – having my roots touched up and a little trim to keep things neat and relevant – but in January I seem to long for change.
(Actually, I had the same sort of sudden craving for an extreme hair reform after both babies were born and, weirdly, after my Dad died last year. But that’s a whole other story.)
It’s a new year thing isn’t it? A fresh start, a clean slate, the chance to reinvent and cast off the old. I think I did have a touch of the New Year New Me lurgy when I started deliberating over my hair, early last week, but I also think that because I was making a dedicated journey to London to have a cut and colour, I felt as though I needed to make it count. To come out with something strikingly different and life-changingly new.
But it soon became apparent that a radical hair transformation was not on the menu for me at the Josh Wood Atelier. Thank God that Melanie (my colourist) and Kat (my stylist) are both very sensible and very experienced; they listened to what I wanted (hair that I didn’t have to style, roots that weren’t obvious when they started to show through) and vetoed any sort of dramatic overhaul.
In fact, what Melanie and Kat suggested I have done was the opposite of an overhaul – it’s what we’ve now decided to call a “no-verhaul”. Because you don’t always need to have something extreme done when you’re sick of your usual style – sometimes the slightest tweaks, if they’re clever ones, help you to fall in love with your hair all over again.
“It’s all about seasonal changes,” said Melanie when she was describing how she would adjust my colour. “You don’t always have to have a major life-changing colour – the new year temptation to be a new you might be fine for a week or two but think about it; is it going to be high maintenance?”
Kat was also a fan of the minor adjustment. “I’m just going to nibble the ends,” she said, which made me laugh because I envisaged her sitting on her stool, biting at my hair like a mouse. Apparently the secret to growing out your hair is to use plenty of intensive hair masks – keep the condition in fine form and you don’t need to cut off huge chunks of it every time you have a trim. (There’ll be a glut of hair mask reviews, then, for the next few months!)
So yes; my hair overhaul became a hair no-verhaul. But despite the changes being so diminutive, the overall effect was quite uplifting – and I didn’t have the settling-in period of an unfamiliar cut or a high maintenance colour.
Before…
… and after:
I suppose you could say that a no-verhaul is in fact the same thing as a routine hair maintenance visit but I’m not sure that it is; a no-verhaul (© A Model Recommends, 2019!) is a conscious decision to persevere with and improve upon what you already have, rather than trying to execute some sort of Oscar-winning personality-transplant manoeuvre. It’s when (I can legitimately decide on the definition of this, as the creator of – what will become in the future, I’m sure – a much-used, scholar-approved term) you have the intention of dramatically changing something but decide that less is more.
Now the very kind people at Josh Wood Atelier have offered one UK reader a complete Hair No-verhaul at the Holland Park salon including a cut with Kat, a colour with Melanie and a delicious lunch whilst it’s all going on. (The food at Josh Wood is amazing.)
All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning this incredible prize is leave a comment below before noon on Friday 18th January (if you’re reading via email you need to click through to the blog to be able to comment) and make sure that your email is in the form so that I can contact the winner. The lucky winner, chosen at random, will also get a personalised haircare regime to take home with them.
Please see here for the full T&Cs – and if you’re struggling to think of something to say in your comment then you can always copy and paste the below…
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Getting back to my hair, though; I couldn’t be more pleased with the results of my no-verhaul. Kat squared off the shape of my hair at the back to make the line more blunt and modern and added the tiniest bit more shape around the front. Mel added lowlights as close to my natural shade as possible and gave more of a balayage effect to move things away from the more generic look that a full head of highlights gives. She did some “sporadic foil placement” with blonde to keep things bright around the face, and something called a “dropped root”, which is when you take the darkness at the root down further into the hair so that regrowth isn’t visible.
Exactly what I want at the moment: low-maintenance hair that doesn’t need styling. Actually, the no-styling thing is precisely why I think I’m going to carry on growing it. I love shorter hair and I do admit that it possibly suits me better, but only when I style it. And there’s the rub, because I never style it. I’d say that I style it one tenth of the time, maybe even less. Really I just style it when I know I’m having my photo taken or I’m going on film – the rest of my days are spent with mid-length hair scraped back into a bun. At least if it’s longer it sort of forms its own style, with waves and kinks and what have you.
But watch this space – come June I’m sure I’ll be procrastinating about getting a blunt fringe cut in to “pep things up a bit” or toying with the idea of a jet black elfin crop.
The website for the Josh Wood Atelier is here – the team there very kindly maintain my hair cut and colour for free and I will be eternally grateful. They are all very good eggs.
Oh yes please. I would love to win this. I shall prepare with a few hair masks – healthy hair is the best hair.
Lovely hair! I could do with a hair no-verhaul….but then so could we all I guess!
Absolutely relate to this post. Came by to look for hair stylist recommendations for that very reason, saw the post – why not enter? :D I love your no-verhaul
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
New year, new hair! Love it.

Beautiful hair!
Quit my job, ready to bring my whole self to 2019, need a new hair style/cut to do it … oh and ““Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Oh come on! I need this!
A combination of sneaky greys and a dodgy balayage two years ago have left me very unprepared for my wedding in May – I would love this! Sx
Dream hair :)
Wow, what an amazing prize. Not only saving on what normally would cost an arm and a leg to some, but at an award winning salon too. What a great experience that would be. Good luck everyone!
Lovely!
Oh what a brilliant prize! ur hair looks amazing Ruth
I am almost 43. My hair has always been pants and now the rest of me is rapidly falling victim to age-related decrepitude. If nothing else, a good hairdo would compensate in some way and I might look nice in at least one photo before I pop my clogs.
Oh Ruth, oh wise, funny, kind, gorgeous and clever one! What an incredibly generous giveaway from you and the Josh Wood team! It’s impeccable timing for me.. Basically, I’ve been battling with terrible illness for years (during which your blog has always been a breath of fresh air), January is my birthday month (so I need a treat!), I’ve never ever dyed my wash and go, big curly hair in my life, (it’s naturally a mix of brown, ginger and blonde), I’ve only been trimming my hair once a year and desperately need a proper shape and style, I’ve obsessed about trying one of the JW home dye kits at home (since my once barely noticeable grey hairs have recently exploded, probably due to illness and age! But wouldn’t know where to start – I need the JW team to work their magic!), and I promised myself 2019 would be a better year with a better me so.. THE GREAT BIG (CURLY) HAIR NO-VERHAUL (genius term btw) would make my year, (decade even!), and be a dream come true! Thank you for the inspiration. And as much as I hope it’s me.. congrats to whoever wins this awesome prize. Xxx
Ps – I live in London ;-)
Would love a hair makeover , as a student I rarely get to get mine done due to budget! I’m in much need of a long overdue no-verhaul!
Would I not like to look like a wild badger in a children’s book? YES, ACTUALLY! Also, I have long, thick hair so it’s be a joy for whoever has to sort it out, innit.
Love your new look and wish mine could look half as good!
Your new hair looks amazing! I would love to have the chance to go to their salon. I’ve just started using the products / their dye, shampoo, conditioner and mask and I love them all!!
Gahhh. This is exactly what I need! A change without changing much at all. My youngest has just started nursery and I’m beginning to remember who I am- it would be a dream if I looked as good on the outside as I’m starting to feel on the inside. And yes that is a smashing blouse
Love the idea of the no-overhaul! Fresh but still feeling like yourself.
I’ve tried since the age of 16 (now 34!) to achieve a golden, creamy long blond bob and no-one has been able to nail it. I would so so appreciate the opportunity to have a hair make-over with Josh Wood’s Team as I know they will do it, what a start to 2019 that would be.
I would love to see what Josh Wood could do with my mid-length hair. Fingers crossed
I would love a no-verhaul, I’ve not had my hair coloured in about three years as want to go blonde and am scared! Not to mention there is always something more pressing to pay for! Having a really rubbish time atm so this would cheer me up no end!
After paying £180 to have my hair completely ruined, I’m in desperate need of a no-verhaul. Also did I mention your blouse looks smashing?
Ah looks fab!
A no-verhaul is exactly what my hair needs. Been thrilled with the josh wood at home colour kits but to go to the atelier would be amazing.
I love your colour. I’m also debating with the long/shorter thing as I’m no good at styling; some days it works, others it looks better after I’ve been out walking the dog in all the elements!
Ah I need this! My hair has never been the same since having my daughter and I’d love to not look like a mum!
Ah I need this! My hair has never been the same since having my daughter and I’d love to not look like a mum!
Beautiful colours in your hair, this is what I need, fresh low maintenance hair that will give me renewed confidence!
Hi Ruth! I have had what was probably the worse 2 years of my life. Horrible health issues with my children amongst lots of other difficult stuff. Life has settled down now but I’m left exhausted and faded. I would love to get my dyed hair sorted out to boost my confidence and kick start me into 2019.
This is such an amazing prize. I would love it. My baby is turning 1 in Feb and I cannot seem to find the time to get my hair done. What a treat this would be. Roots as long as my arm, well not literally but it feels like they are.
I have curly hair, it’s a disaster. Before children it was manageable (hours in front of the mirror with product). Now? I go to work in a hat hoping no one will notice. They do. If anyone* fancies a challenge. I’m here. ready. Good luck…
*Josh Wood
I would love a chance to try Josh Wood, have heard such great things and your hair always looks superb.
Thanks for running this brilliant competition
this kind of thing with the darker roots with the blonde is exactly what I need! I’m so pale that full on blonde washes me out. You looks fab x
Yes Ruth! I’d bloody love a NO-VERHAUL. I have big curly hair. Which comes in one style: big and curly. I think with an expert no-verhaul id finally get to grips with how my big curly mop should be cut and coloured hair for best results so please pick meeeee.
:)
Oooh what a fantastic prize! I’ve heard so much about Josh Wood – my coloured, lack lustre hair would love the treat!
Just had my first baby and my hair is falling out like mad so am defo in need of a nover-haul! Great post x
Omg this would be amazing! I think like you, in my head I think I want something really different doing to my hair when really all I probably need is some minor changes to make me feel happier with it again! It is also in desperate need of a cut as I haven’t been able to find someone in London i trust to cut my hair yet haha this would be a perfect treat!
Sweet lord have mercy, this is exactly what I need! Im a student midwife who’s hair has been neglected for the last 3 years! My gorgeous best friend has done it in the past but what I wouldn’t give to sit in a salon and have a head massage rather than my head tipped over a bath! I have been dying for cool toned blonde hair for yeeeeear but I always end up honey, amd theys only one place for honey…in my mouth! Anyway, lovely post and lovely hair! X
Love the idea of a noverhaul, great mantra to take into 2019! Your hair looks fab and what an amazing prize
Love the colour and cut
What an amazing prize! Thank you for giving one of us the chance to win it. You look as if you had the most wonderful time having your no-ver haul done and it looks great. If I was lucky enough tote the winner I would like my daughter to go and have her hair done.
Morning Ruth,
I’m tired and have (in my opinion) pretty sad hair that could do with a bit of a sort out. Yours looks pretty decent.
Thanks
Kelly
I have never had my hair coloured before, I’d love this!
Your hair always looks absolutely delightful! Let them get their hands on mine! Dream team!
I’ve had the same hair for three good years now and it’s in dire need of a ‘no-verhaul’! I’ve got a few big life events coming up over the next few months including FINALLY qualifying as a solicitor after seven years of hard slog, so a fresh and updated look would be the cherry on top as I start my career! Thanks so much Ruth – I have loved your blog since 2012.
I love the idea of a no verhaul. I love my hair being long and dont want to loose that but love to change sometimes.
Hair looks incredible! Fingers crossed
Hahaha actually giggled at your suggested comment! Having my hair done at Josh Wood’s would be a dream! Fingers crossed!
Hi! I’d love to win this my hair could do with some serious love after being so neglected due to ill health, dissertations and life getting in the way! I’m to and from London for appointments with specialists which is costing me a pretty penny in train fare and I would love to do something that made me feel good for once.
Ooh this would be great, I’ve been desperate to m chop some hair off and go all over blonde for months, just waiting for the right time!
Hair and smile look lovely, they did a great job!
Oh god my hair, it’s truly awful at the moment. I haven’t had anything done to it since last March when I went for a balyage look. Now my hairdressers pregnant and on maternity leave and I face another 9 months of lack lustre hair
Oh my days; I definitely won’t win as a) I never win anything, and b) don’t ever write anything witty enough but fingers crossed.
I’m 25, would love to have this experience, after never dying my hair ever and only having my hair cut as the “model” so it’s about £5 per time…. jeez that does sound depressing, but I am a fun happy person, but would be great for this treat! Have had a really rough few years which I won’t go on about, but this really would be wonderful as a reader and watched of the blog and YouTube for years and years before you even had Angelica. Xxx
Count me in :)
Oh my goodness I am in desperate need of a no-verhaul! I’ve been meaning to ‘get something done to it’ for months and haven’t got round to booking anything in. I’m so fed up of being bored of my hair, even considered doing a Britney to it the other day (decided against this mostly to avoid drawing attention to my huge forehead!). Even if I don’t win, this has reminded me to ring the hairdressers!
Also, Ruth, lovely blouse!
I think I’ve had the same style with boring ol’ highlights for 10years – that’s my 10 year challenge done! I’ve not really invested in my hair for a good while and have been settling coming out of the hairdresser thinking oh that will do. Reading this and the clever techniques makes me realise how much I miss a good salon ♀️♀️ Yeah they might be slightly more pricey but you do get what you pay for… I miss that feeling of coming out of the salon and walking down the street flicking my hair like I’m in some sort of shampoo commercial! Your new cut and colour looks fab and I hope you strutted down the street after!
Ruth I love your haircut and style, it really does take a few years off you!
What an incredible giveaway, seriously needed! I need someone to push me outside of my comfort zone with my hair! I’m like you, wanting minimal effort with styling.
Argh what a wonderful prize! My blonde locks need a spot of tlc and I’m sure these guys would work absolute wonders. I have my fingers and toes crossed! Oh and smashing blouse etc ;)
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on. ;)
What a lovely giveaway! My hair is currently wonky due to growing out an asymmetric bob. Some tlc would basically be the dream…
The recent #10yearchallenge revealed I’ve had the same haircut for a decade. Please help me change things up to prevent me having the same hair cut for another 10 years!
I love the range in boots. It would be a DREAM to have my hair done there! Thanks!
Love your hair! You look amazing :)
Gorgeous hair and something I would love to have recreated on myself having a similar colour to you. Enjoyed reading as ever!
Your hair looks lovely Ruth. I’d love a new hair makeover. I haven’t been to the hair dressers in about three years. Have just been getting my friend to hack it off with the kitchen scissors when it gets too long
I totally feel the same at the beginning of a new year! Dying (!) for a fresh colour. Yours looks great!! X
Love the new hair, looks so fresh!
So bored with my hair right now and looking through old photos for the ridiculous 10yearchallenge made it even worse…I haven’t done anything new with my hair for such a long time! It’s time!!
Hi Ruth!
Amazing give away.
I’m struggling with a bit of post partum hair loss, identity crisis and fat face (biscuits is all I have time for now, who am I kidding, they’re my favourite.)
I’d love an overhaul/underhaul/no-overhaul, any kind of haul!
I bloody love the word “blouse”
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.” I genuinely do think your hair and blouse are top notch
Although the no-verhaul worked for you, I think I need a massive OVERHAUL! My greys are coming through faster than I can pull them out(I am joking but it sounds good!), but my blonde is looking all wrong! To the point my colour is clashing with all my clothes! As for the cut, rapidly approaching 50 need to get a more suitable style, as not updated my hair style for years! So please, I would love this prize so let’s pray it’s my lucky day! Xx
Love your “no-verhaul”, Ruth!
I need one! At a younger age, my natural hair was a gorgeous auburn/dark brunette…. now it is mainly grey and my last hairdresser dyed my hair “dark blonde”. I don’t feel like me anymore and I need some serious professional help from the team at Josh Wood. Please?
Ooooooh fab giveaway!!!! Thank you, Ruth and Josh Wood! Your hair looks in such good condition and the colour is Pick me, pick me please! My hair is in dire need of transformation from frumpy stay at home mummy…
Put my curly hair on the list. Going gray gracefully is my challenge this year… still not sure if at 27 that should be aloud.
Pick me pick me!!! I moved to the country and am too scared to have my curls cut locally, it’s been over a year now and I am IN NEED! I have a little one and am not working at the mo so can’t justify going back to my lovely lovely salon in London. Also, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go to Josh Woods
Well that giveaway sounds bloody fantastic. My hair is just so bleh that I have no clue what to do with it
Hi Ruth,
I’d love to win, because my hair makes me look like a cavewoman some days, and as I teach French to glamorous people in the Gherkin à la City, I’d love to look…normal and look like a glamorous French sexy goddess. Oh gosh, I now sound like Caroline Hirons! Oh well, that’s what happens when you read and watch the top 2 UK female Youtubers. Voilà!!
PS: btw, tes cheveux look gorgeous!
Just when I was thinking of a hairdresser appointment! Thanks Ruth and Josh Wood!
What an amazing giveaway Ruth – so generous of you and Josh Wood! :) your new hair looks fab too, such a gorgeous blonde! :)
Yes please, a no-verhaul definitely needed here!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Errr… this looks legit awesome- anyone who wins this will be skipping for a month after!
Is this where I milk it, saying I have 3.5 year old twins, work away from home every other week, don’t see my family and no time for myself, blah blah blah…?! (I am fully aware this is a first world problem! Lots of women work harder than I do, but you know, free hair n-overhaul and all that…!)
I’ve been wanting to do something with my very long, limp flat hair for a while now, but with no trust in anyone I’ve previously seen I’ve always been scared to do it. Please push me to do something, for everyone’s sake
This giveaway sounds amazing, thank you for hosting it! I’ve been considering a blunt fringe for the past 5 years and still haven’t got round to it, maybe I might actually get round to it if I win. Oh, and oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Love this post!
My hair has gone through some tough times recently and it would love a bit of TLC!
I love the term no-verhaul!! That is so what I need right now!
What a dream, would love to win a trip to josh wood!
Wow, what an amazing gift! Thank you Ruth
I couldn’t have said it better myself… “Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Have always wanted to go to this salon! Ever since my hair dresser moved away I’ve been trying to find the perfect one! I have a feeling this could be it
A no-verhaul is exactly the word I need in my armoury next time I go to the hairdressers. My last appointment started off with the best of maintinence like intentions and ended up as rose gold (more accurately bright pink!!) hair and a mild panic attack as I walked to my desk, in a corporate office, having seemingly forgotten whilst in the hairdressers chair that I have to go to work and be taken seriously – eek!
I need this. The end.
Ooo this sounds lovely, yes please!
HAHA! Ruth, you are amazing for REAL! :)
Would love to win this, read so many good things about Josh Wood. Your hair looks amazing x
Yassss please.
Put your hands up for new hair!
Lovely locks lady :)
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
In my dreams i look like you, but sadly IRL I am a teacher with over bleached greying hair of indeterminate style!
I love your posts, which make me smile every day. I so wish you had been posting when my kids were little. Thank you for your quirky sense of humour which always makes me smile.
Charlotte
I could really do with this, your hair looks fab!!
Oh I’d love to experience the this!
Wow. What a treat it would be to win this.
I am desperate to do something with my hair, I really want to go blonde but every hairdresser tells me you are a brunette blonde won’t look natural, well if I bloody wanted to look natural I would just keep it as it is !
Would love to be have the opprtonuty to change my hair,
And your hair looks amazing !
I have good hair but I’m a bit stuck in a rut, I definitely need a No-Verhaul. I’ve been using the fabulous Josh Wood Shampoo and Conditioner which is amazing!!
Ahh this would be perfect after I came out of my hairdresser with brassy blotchy hair!
Love the ‘nibble the ends’ comment.
I’d love a hair ‘noverhaul’! I never have time for much beautifying nowadays (mum of a very cute sleep thief). Ruth I think your hair is lush and I would feel honoured and very much in safe hands with the very generous people at Josh Wood! Thank you, Natalie xxxx
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
This is the work of a genius!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Your hair looks amazing – mine is thin and fine and has been thinning for a few years due to iron levels – I turned the big 50 a few months ago and would love love to reinvent my hair xx
Wow! You look amazing!
I follow Kate and Josh Wood colour on insta dreamily wishing I could sit in her chair when funds allow…I’m currently selling old clothes on eBay to help make that dream a reality, so when I saw this Conley I got very excited and have all my fingers and toes crossed!
Competion! Not Conley!
After maternity leave and a few long weeks back at work the next thing on my to do list is to sort my hair out. Have had it cut and coloured once in the last 16 months… just keeps being demoted in the list
I love the new hair Ruth! After donating 40cm of hair in the summer I’ve been having a hair crisis, aka being lazy and doing nothing. I need some inspiration to help me love my shorter hair and get out of my funk
As my wise friend said ‘you wear your hair everyday’ :)
Your hair looks fabulous and I’d love mine like that. My hair is long but in awful condition. I’m brushing it and finding the brush is full of hair where it’s snapping off!
You had me at “noverhaul” really. It’s the 17th of January, we’re balls deep in this stupid #10yearchallenge and quite honestly, I like the me of now. I liked her on Dec. 31st 2018 as well. I like her ten years ago too. The me of right now would absolutely love to have her hair done at a posh salon and we waited on hand and foot. That would be very special indeed.
My hair is a disaster! I need this!!
I love it, we don’t always need a massive change to lift our spirits! Would squeal if I got the chance to have my hair done by one if the greats.
Oh wow, this would be a dream! X
Love it! In desperate need of an overhaul x
Oh gosh, Ruth, this would be such a dream prize. I have a big birthday on the horizon and need all the help I can get. I’m always so impressed by the results you get at Josh Wood.
Oh yes please! Despatetly needed!
Such an amazing prize! Anything to make my 2019 hair trend not to be wearing a bobble hat!
Yes! Me please. Quite desperate…
Thanks
Leonie
Love your hair! Had a rubbish couple of months and would love to get out of my hair rut.. xx
I have never ever had my hair dyed – too worried about damaging it after hair loss and concerned about the cost and hassle of maintaining it!! I am 40 this year and age, kids and night shifts at work have caught up with me. I can’t get away without covering the greys anymore! This looks like the most amazing day out.
I’ve had the same do for years & I would love a noverhaul. If I do anything remotely different with my hair I hate it & go back to the old ‘style’!
Love the noverhaul!! My hair is so out of hand at the mo, I could definitely do with a visit!
Amazing hair Ruth! Looking fabulous as always xx
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.” :D :D :D Lov you lot :*
Hi, first time mummy here in need of something low maintenance but still fun!
Your new hair looks gorgeous! (Always does though, to be fair. Not jealous at all…)
Would love to win a no-ver haul! Last little bit of feeling glamorous before having the lovely little baby that is currently punching my bladder and will no doubt be a barrier to glamour or luxury of any form for a long old while.
x
Hi, I’m always reading your blog it’s been one of my faves for a long time. You’re a very down to earth and relatable person, which is nice in this day and age. I would love to win this hair makeover as after a very life threatening ectopic pregnancy last year, it was on my ovary and not spotted for a while I ended up having to have some rounds of chemo to save my life. Unfortunately it ment I lost a little of my hair, but a year later it’s got a lot better but I haven’t been to hair dressers in a while as I’m a little scared. I already feel lucky just to have my life and my supportive husband but to win this would be lovely. Thank you
I’ve fractured my sacrum and to add insult to injury, I was being taught how to floss at the time. Try explaining that to your doctor! Whilst it is my own fault (I do have a bone problem) my poor and bruised ego dearly needs a lift and a noverhaul … plus it would be a dream to leave the house!
Lordie…I have spent many a time in the hairdresser s chair trying to describe your hair cut as the tone is exactly what I elusively searching for!
Fingers crossed.
Oooh this is fab! And i have total hair envy ♀️
Urghhh I’m in such a hair rut right now. I’m about to turn the big 30 this year and whilst I’ve always been blessed with relatively health hair, I’ve now been invaded by sprouts little hairs that look like crazy, thick cat hairs (like Mr Bear has deposited a spattering of floofs into my very dark locks!). Every time I look in the mirror at my work place there’s another rascally grey friend poking haphazardly out of my head! Why has no one told me?!?
I’m torn between cutting it all off and deciding if I’m too old to have 22 inch hair? Shall I just start getting a blue rinse and a weekly set? Am I now set to match my 9pm bedtime with a crown of curls and greys? Who knows!
Hi Ruth. Thanks for the giveaway!
My hair is a real mess at the moment. Lost quite a bit, I recon from stress and now I am starting to see more and more white ones, have no idea what to do with it and I definitely need help
I’ve heard a lot about josh wood and will definitely love to try their products.
This colour and style is gorgeous! Love the idea of a no-verhaul xx
I love your content and love your blog! Also being a skint student in London I would really appreciate a bit of pampering amidst my exam stress. Your hair looks lush by the way
I am new to Josh Wood but have just bought the colour shade refresh shampoo so hope it works on my not particularly natural blonde . I love your ‘nibbled’ new refreshed style Ruth and have never managed to style my hair with waves successfully. A lovely salon treat would be lovely. Xx
Love this – I had a major change a year ago and cut my almost waist length hair to just below my shoulders. I love my new hair but sometimes struggle to style it – love the waves they’ve put in your hair – something I would love to be able to do! Would love it if I got chosen ! What a treat !
Oh God, the pressure of a comment! I’m exhausted, because it’s January, I have had the same hair for 35 years (Sun In blip aside),because it’s crap and mousey brown and really fine and no one has ever been able to do anything with it! Josh Wood could, I bet Josh Wood could????????
Having recently discovered the absolute joy of your dry shampoo I now trust your hair advice implicitly…
I need this! My post baby hair is DIRE.
I would love this, there has been so mich going on over the last three months that should scream do something drastic…but something just perfect like this would be just about the right answer. I love his products and watch avidly all the posts! Much love and hoping! Emma
Your hair looks gorgeous & what a great prize on offer, I’ve been desperate to try Josh Wood Atelier so I’d love to win – I’m expecting my second baby boy in February so I know I’ll fancy a no-verhaul after that. X
Yes please I need this prize on my head
Yes please I need this prize on my head thanks x
Think my hair is menopausal it looks and feels horrible and it making me feel like c**p. Please help!
Hi Ruth! Love you channel! I’d love to be able to treat my hair properly! Honestly this is an amazing prize to win for anyone. I’d love to win as my hair needs some tlc!
Anyway beautiful hair!
Oohhh please !!!! Barnet SOS calling ! xx
I go through phases of having long hair and then decide to chop it all off and stay short for a while. Last phase of short was for 4 years so now I’m on the long phase but I’ve got the urge to chop! Letting it grow another couple inches and then cutting off a foot to donate to the princess trust – decided I might as well put it to good use!!
Overhaul: yes please!
I would love a bit of a noverhaul!

I have flappy hair!! I have a bob that flaps when I walk/run. Just recently joined a running club and my too short to tie up bob flaps and drives me crazy. Hair bands irritate and hats are too hot. Now I don’t know if I should grow my hair so I can tie it back or cut it shorter. Thing is love my bob so thinking shorter. HELP, HELP, HELP nerf some advice. PS a ginger also and usually go blonder but sick of doing that too. You always look fresh and your hair always looks cool even when a bit messy looks great. I would love some help like you from Josh Wood xx
I always get the urge to completely change my hairstyle but don’t as I know I’d regret it – would love some tweaks to make me fall back in love again – and yours always looks so effortlessly done ♀️♀️♀️
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Also please let Josh Woof atelier sort my barnet out!! xx
Ha ha! Josh Woof! Oops.
I’m with you on the styling part! Always looks nice at hairdressers but in the end I really don’t style my hair afterwards. I’m actually sitting in my front room with the family dyeing my hair with Josh wood colour & shade shot which was recommended by jw themselves a month or so ago waiting my 20 mins covering my grey/silver roots & waiting for son to get out of shower so I can cover the ends in dye for 10 mins before everything goes Pete tong! Would love a pamper away from hubby kids & the cat sniffing my hair dye!
I always have the desire to drastically change my hair but don’t because I know I’d regret it – so some tweaks and changes to make me fall back in love again would be the perfect start to 2019 ♀️♀️♀️
I’m currently reading this instead of revising for my final year exams at university. I love your writing style Ruth, the complete antithesis to dreary History books! Would be a lovely treat to win this prize, my hair is naturally mousey brown, but I have dyed it all sorts of blondes/gingers over the last couple of years and I’m not really sure what to do with it now. I’ve managed to get a grown-up job for when I finish uni and think it might be time for a grown-up hairstyle- help is required!
I would love to win this please!
Looks amazing x
Wow, looks great! I would love this! x
Oh I need this. My hair is such a mess!
Being a Gemini I have a compulsive desire to flip and flop and change my hair at whim constantly. I’m currently mid-cycle of my typical hair life story which is essentially: grow hair extremely long in endeavour to have it all the same length like the girl in Love Story, get bored and cut a fringe. Hate fringe, grow it out, get bored of growing it out and cut hair to a bob, hate bob, attempt to grow hair out to all the same length, hair gets extremely long (etc ad infinitum). So essentially I could use the emotional support of a haircare professional at this stage.
Goodness what great timing !
Following a divorce and teenage son with mental health issues my mojo and hair care have done a bunk!
This would be the most amazing start to my year of self care !
I bought the Josh Wood range on your advice Ruth – so glad I did because it is amazing. I would love a chance to have the salon experience with them.
I’d like to get this for my sister. She’s come home from the hairdressers twice in the past year in tears (one cut looked like they’d put steps in her long luscious hair). She would love a good cut and colour for once and not just what’s affordable on treatwell!
Would love a chance to be brought back to life, so to speak . Thank you for all you share. You’re an inspiration. Best wishes xx
Your hair looks great!!!
Love the hair and what a fab giveaway. I would love an over haul or a no-verhaul! I keep longing to change up my colour and style but need to keep the grey hidden so blonde is easiest. Would be amazing to have someone new to guide me into how I can change or tweak and still meet my needs.
Wow what an absolutely amazing prize! Not done anything to my hair in years and it’s in such bad condition I’d love to get it completely restyled!
Dear Ruth, your hair looks very lovely indeed, the colours and tones are beautiful! As far as hair masks go, I highly recommend Philip Kingsley Elasticizer. I’m sure you know lots of people far better placed than I to give recommendations but thought I’d mention it!
Amazing! My hair is looking as my gran would say “brushed with a toffee apple” lately. It’s so long and straight and in desperate need of some life! Always so nervous about new hairdressers, but your pics have convinced me this is a must
I am a student with £50 of my overdraft left and dreadful roots! Thank you for the comp !! :)
great prize… thank you for the chance to win it :-)
Please god let me win this competition! With 2 kids, working full time in a school I could seriously do with this!!!
I completely get wanting to start the new year with a new hairstyle. Come January, I always feel the urge to change my hair but can never decide on what to so I just have a boring trim. I’d love a no-verhaul :)
I found my first grey at 18 and now I am covered its a weekly battle to keep my hair grey free. I would love a hair overhaul to manage the greys and to feel confident about my hair again!
You could have your hair any colour and any style Ruth and it would look beautiful… Lucky lady!
Love your hair and your posts Ruth! What a great prize!
A hair no- verhaul is is exactly what I am in need of!
I’m having a hair dilemma. Feeling like an old ‘mum’ bag in need of a boost! I have long, thick hair in need of a brilliant cut and colour!
I have also become a little nervous about going to the hairdresser after a couple of bad experiences!
I follow all of you, JoshWood, Kat and Melanie – loving your work!!
Basically, I’d really love a trip to JoshWood please!! Fingers crossed!
Thanks
Love your new hair!
I’ve been dithering about a colour change for AGES so this would be wonderful!
Your hair looks great as always, fingers crossed for the win!!
Thank you Ruth and Josh Wood.
I’d love to win – I really want to go to Josh Wood for a cut and colour in preparation for my wedding this year!
Your hair looks so refreshed and the colour is stunning! I’m starting as a student Nurse next month and would love to refresh my hair before all the chaos begins! Definitely thinking shorter and way blonder! ❤️
Never dyed my hair before and have just started researching josh wood collection at boots. Then I see this competition!
It’s fate!
I def need this… my hair is woeful. Thining, greying but like hagrid at the same time
Would absolutely love to win this :) could really do with something nice right now! It’s been a tough year.
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on, ta ta!
I’ve heard so much about Josh Wood they seem to be the favourites in the business right now! Your hair looks so bright and lovely, such a nice way to start the year with a refresh xxx
I always appreciate your light hearted, often sarcasm laden and honest blog posts/Instagram stories/you tube videos. Please keep them coming. Plus your hair always looks fabulous! Xx
Hi Ruth!
goodness! I tried a hair overhaul this time last year and it was a DISASTER, I went for something quite drastic and my Mum cried lol. It would be good, I think to do something subtler now that it is finally grown out-
love to you xx
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Fingers crossed!
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”-
Actually looking to donate my hair so I new look would be greatly appreciated! X
Hi Ruth
Me me! Just turned 40 and need some help!
XXxX
I just had a baby so totally get the wanting a radical change thing! Going to a place where three wisdom outstrips my desire for dramatic change sounds like a great option!
Yes please!!!!!!!!!
It would be rather fabulous and TOTALLY acceptable to ‘cheat’ on my current hairdresser with Josh Wood… Eeek! X
I’m due to have my second baby in April and with a 13 month old already, it’s safe to say my hair (everything about me really) is very much neglected! Would love an overhaul to make me feel more human. Xx
Dear Ruth, I absolutely adore your humour!! Your real instastories, especially with your kids, just show that life is so much better when you can laugh a little more! Also, I love the hair makeover above and it would be absolutely fantastic to win a hair makeover :)
My hair situation is Getting a bit sad, haven’t been to the hairdresser since June! Mostly because I cannot decide what I should do with it!
#Hair goals! You’re hair looks great Ruth. I would love a no-verhaul along the same lines as your ‘do but I would need the talented folks at Josh Wood to work their magic to avoid the triangle hair I had last time I went that short!
What a brilliant prize! I love the concept of the no-verhaul, I’ve found now I’ve hit 50 I’ve lost my hair adventure mojo, Ive variously rocked I’ve a fluorescent pink 1 inch crop (post punk) , elfin cut with rat tail (ska, Two tone) blunt cut shoulder length bob with marmalade multi colour (human league) Madge do ( blond ambition) I was fearless! After all it will grow out right? But lately IN A RUT but I’m not done yet and the idea of having someone to help find the next “me” is a dream whether it’s a radical shift or a subtle refinement. Anyhow , All the best to whomever wins and ENJOY
Yes please! This sounds amazing, my dyed hair desperately needs some help as I’ve had the same colour for years xx
oh please, oh please, oh please let me win this. I’m in desperate need of a bit of pep in my step (and in my hair!). I’ve always watched people (you, Caroline, Sam etc) go to the salon and lusted after such amazing hair. Maybe they might finally be the one’s to sort out my unruly mop…
Wow, this is just what I need – and I need all the help I can get!
I’ve heard how great the Josh Wood produces are but non to be found in Market Harborough as yet.
I’d like to be entered into the josh wood giveaway! Been hearing about JW for a couple of years now and am v intrigued….
You look fab Ruth!
I am currently writing up the final chapter of my PhD. I haven’t seen the light for four years and now quite closely resemble a Neanderthal. An overhaul (and let’s be honest, probably a Vitamin D supplement) are much needed. Charlotte Brontë has a lot to answer for…P.S. Your hair looks lovely.
I would love a no-ver haul for my hair! I still love my hairstyle, but would love to have it professionally taken care of ☺️
Need this. With a 1 year old, hardly any disposable income and not being able to pee in peace(every mum knows!) this would be an incredible treat!
Hi Ruth
I moved to the UK recently and haven’t found a hairdresser yet! This would be a dream come true as my hair is starting to look a bit scraggly.
Also, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Hair looks amazing! Would love to join you in a no-verhaul!
I’d love this !! My silver pearls of wisdom are outta control.
Your hair looks stunning, the colour and curls work so well together!
Hello, you look fabulous and I have so many other brilliant Josh Wood great hair day stories on my insta feed, it looks like an amazing salon
If I was the lucky winner I would nominate my mum for the prize – she deserves some pampering for being a lovely mum and wouldn’t usually treat herself to something like this.
That would be a dream! Your hair, Ruth is gorgeous xxx
Oh I would love the opportunity for some proper Hair-ttention. After a very stressful few years my hair is finally growing back but it is frizzy and sparse and I could do with a some divine intervention.
I’ve spent three years caring for my terminally ill mum, never putting myself first. She passed away 6 months ago, a huge smack because we were Gilmore Girls level close. My new life, without my Mum, who raised me as a single parent, is a weird one. I find myself having to embark on a new life, reaching for a new home, job, love life, none of which I have yet. Maybe new hair would take me further into this new life.
Haven’t had my hair cut in over a year, eeek! Would be a lovely treat to win. Thanks for the opportunity x
Oh. My. God. Please, please, please let me win this!!!!
This looks gorgeous. Thanks for this giveaway :)
Oh. My. God. This is an amazing giveaway! I would quite literally wet myself if I won this (relatively new Mam therefore relatively weak bladder ) as my hair is a big pile of nothingness.
I always request ‘something different’ but I must be able to put it in a knot while I’m running around after my little one.
Then it always stays boring brown and straight like spaniels lugs.
Here’s hoping I win! Thanks for the opportunity!
My hair needs a little love and attention. Will be celebrating my 50th this year so a new style and advice which be great.
I am ready to go Stacey Dooley and red and I couldn’t think of anyone better to do it!!
Ooh I do love the blouse btw
@storiesofb
I’m in a hair RUT! Would love the chance to make a subtle but ohemgee why didn’t I do this sooner change to my nice but dull hair
My hair is so thick I think I could haul lorries with it. HELP.
Hey Ruth
Loving the new hair!
I always say it’s worth investing in your hair as you wear it every day! Or maybe that’s just how I justify my love for buying and trying loads of different products
Anyway after being stuck in a hair rut for ah I don’t know the last few years – always having the same colour and style it’s definitely time for me to have a change and I’d love to try the luxury salon experience at Josh Wood and leave with hair as lovely as yours.
Here’s hoping! X
This is exactly what I’ll be asking my hairdresser for in a couple of weeks (unless I win this fabulous prize of course!). I find the dark roots/blonde such high maintenance, and with baby number three due to pop next month I haven’t got time for that! Beautiful hair Ruth, as always.
Ooh I could do with a No-vehaul! Hair looks lovely Ruth :)
Ahhh this looks amazing. This is exactly what I need right now!
I’ve struggled with my hair after pregnancy. Lost so much hair that I was too scared for anyone to see what a mess it was. But for the first time in two years my hair is becoming fuller and thicker just like before. I would love for someone as amazing to do their magic on my hair! Your hair looks envious, Ruth!
Would love to let them get their hands on my wild naturally curly hair and actually give it a style which shows it off to it full potential.
I need a noverhaul! Bit bored of my blonde highlights but not sure going back brunette is wise with the amount of grey i need to cover! My hair just needs a good shakeup
I used the Josh Wosh colour in 5.5 with the brunette shade shot around six month ago and absolutely love it!! My hair has sadly lost this colour so would be great to have a refresh!
Thanks Ruth, I really enjoy your content!
X
This would be incredible. I am totally stuck in a hair rut…it’s been the same for about the last 18 years cut wise and now trying to figure out how best to cover grey hairs but not end up with an orange glow.
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Truth !
Hello Ruth – you are trully wonderful human being, mother and wife! A role model to modern women of our generation. Love watching your successess and struggles on daily basis and listen to your clever advise. Keep spreading positive vibes and thanks for organising this amazing giveaway which will surely make someone extremally happy!
Until last year I used to crave an overhaul in September, I think as a throwback to starting the new year at school and trying to appear more worldly and chic following my two month holiday! Since last year I’m noverhauling (love it) and my hair is so much healthier and longer……not saying I couldn’t do with another noverhaul though!
Yes please. Just what the doctor ordered!
After fighting the natural warmth in my hair for years (trying to be a cool blonde), I’ve embraced the warmth and added some copper tones in and I’m much happier. I’m also growing out my hair as I went too short and it was adding to my football head shape. Hair is a tough one, I never feel I’ve got it sussed fully.
I get bored with my hair so easily so a no-verhaul sounds like a perfect compromise. What a fab prize! Thank you, oh wise one ;)
Oh gosh yes please. I was very much of the ‘oh New Year, new hair overhaul’ bunch, or possibly even ‘a trip to the hairdressers- full overhaul’ person!
I LOVE what they’ve done to yours and you’ve inspired me. I may even save for a trip to the Josh Wood salon. 9 months after having the twins and a year since my last salon visit my hair is in definite need of something.
I would love a new haircut to start the new year off!
I cut my hair short about 6 months ago as I was stuck in a rut but now bored again! Would love some professional advice!
I need a no-verhaul because I’m tempted to completely switch things up even though I’m pretty sure it’ll end in disaster! I need their experienced and sensible hands on me! Xx
I would so love to win this! I’m 3 months and could do with something done to my hair!
Oof – looks gorgeous! I have fine hair which I struggle to get decent volume into/do anything but a ponytail and bun with and have NEVER braved colour for fear of awful roots and bad shades of blonde but would love to try adding volume through colour as well as getting a blooming nice chop! Fingers crossed!! X
I’ve spent several years trying to get a hair colour that’s what I want as opposed to what I end up with. And lunch while you’re there, child free?! Yes please!!
I would love an “no-verhaul” I’m desperate to get my current hair style and colour into decent shape! I perservere for about 2 years then chop it all off and start again. If I could just have it looking lovely, swishy and bright I would be a very happy camper! And then I finally allow my hair to grow to the length I’m longing for I’d love hair nice and bright like yours
I would sooooo love to win a Hair No-verhaul with Josh Wood, and here is my reason; I have a 20 month old boy called Woody and a brother in law called Josh and a British Shorthair (named Pumpkin, but the point is she is Bear’s BIGGEST fan). Your hair is perfect AND they do Sarah Harris’ hair, right? I need help embracing the greys!
So natural yet so chic, the perfect colour! In definite need of an over-haul! xxxx
Lovely hair! I would love a revamp my hair is so tired and in need of something new!
Currently 6 months pregnant would absolutely love to win this giveaway!
I love your hair in these pics – looks modern but able to style everyday yourself – my absolute dream hair cut!
Your hair does look amazing indeed!
Your hair looks amazing Ruth! What a result for a no-overhaul :) Wow, would be amazing to win this. Haven’t had my hair done in over 3 years (pre-babbo), so I have gone from close to platinum to mousey-brown constantly-in-pony-tail-as-too-long due to fading/root regrowth and am desperate for an overhaul. Tempted to go bright again, and chopping a load off, but holding back a bit…maybe balayage…then cut…hmmmm…
I love your hair in these pics – looks modern but able to style everyday yourself – my absolute dream hair cut!
Your hair looks absolutely smashing! I’m afraid with my brain being full of nursery bugs and snot, general sleep deprivation courtesy of aforementioned nursery bugs brought home by my 2yo and shared with my 1 yo and rest of the fam, I can’t think of anything interesting or witty to say… I would love help with my barnet though, so many thanks for this opportunity! Lots of love xx
What a fab prize Ruth. I’d love to win it. I’ve lost my way somewhat colourwise with my hair. As I’ve got older my skin has lightened and the once strong dark colours that were my trademark now make me look washed out. Would really love, and need, a refresh to lift my soul again xx
Your hair looks glorious!! I love the way it looks natural yet noticeable and sophisticated. Would love to have a no-verhaul (A Model Recommends, 2019)(love it)!!
My hair is literally dead and the same colour from top to bottom so I would love to win this.
Ruth- love love love the overhaul they did on you- living for the swishy blonde vibes
My hair is in desperate need for some love and I’ve been looking for AGES for a good hairstylist! My last one seems to have been terribly keen on never listening to what I wanted Ruth, you’re fantastic. Witty and pretty and your kids are adorable ♥
I’d love to have an expert work on my hair. I’m not getting greys, they’re white!
Oh yes please this would be a dream come true.
Thank you Ruth and Josh Wood.
Fingers crossed
Lisa x
I would absolutely love this! I’m in definite need of a no-verhaul before baby number two arrives and my chances of leaving the house alone drop to zero!!
Only used the Josh Wood everything mask but it was glorious! Thank you for the giveaway Ruth, love your blog as always
Omg this looks amazing. I went to meet a friend at josh wood a while ago when she’d had her hair done and literally couldn’t shut my mouth in amazing. It’s. So. Beautiful. Godddd I’d love to win this
Good hair really can perk you up. AS someone who works in the public everyday and can be on camera etc unexpectedly, my hair is the one thing that lets me down the most which is always a bit gutting. I just can’t make it ‘me’ and I want it to look as good when I style it as when I walk out of the salon! Your hair always looks fabulous and you can see how happy it made you to get that refresh!
Lisa x
http://www.thebeautytype.com
I totally agree – I’ve just had a baby and it’s January and my hair is so meh!!! I seriously need an amazing hairdressers help!
Would love a no-verhaul! Have a three month old baby so hair has fallen way down the priority list over the last few months! X
What a fab prize, fingers crossed.
This would be truly wonderful! Fingers crossed x
@missvonstein
This would put a big smile on my face.
I love styling my daughters hair every day when the go to school but for my hair since I had my 3 kids it looks like I never have the time anymore to do it.
I would love a change to my hair .
Ruth your hair looks amazing!! I’ve heard nothing but fabulous things about this place, maybe I need to venture there one day!
This is a great offer and I love what your hair looks like after the team worked on it. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to take part in this competition.
I often cut my own hair because (free!) it’s long and thick and I can just about get away with it…. please feel
free to gently rescue me from this poor decision making with an no-verhaul
This would be a dream come true. I’ve been wanting a complete hair overhaul for years but I’m always too scared the the stylist wouldn’t be right for the job. I’d have no worries here if changing the style I’ve had for the last 20+ years. I’d feel like a new woman!
Gorgeous locks, I started adding colour to my hair a few years ago when I did the moonwalk it was a tiny strand of pink that has gradually increased to the front of my hair
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on!
Your hair looks amazing! I haven’t done anything with mine in a few years since a hairdresser really thinned my what was very thick previously hair. It had such a knock to my confidence so I think it’s so important to find a hairdresser that will talk to you about what they have in mind instead of just doing!
A noverhaul sounds amazing! Like you my hair is rarely styled thanks to my 5 month old who is apparently terrified of both sleep and the hairdryer at the moment (and trying to add his own input to this comment during his feed)!
Wow- what a great giveaway. My hair has never been coloured but I can’t get away with it any longer. I know I would be in safe hands at Josh Wood
This sounds amazing – a hair make over can so often turn out all kinds of “not what I had in mind” with curly hair. No-overhaul brilliance!
Awesome hair, love it!!
The not-new hair looks great. I love your way with words. “No-verhaul” is just so perfect!
Love the colour, love your style and I would really like a change in 2019.
Your ‘new’ hair looks beautiful, especially the photo of the back. I too craved a new look and had something done a week ago. I HATE it. I really need Josh Wood lovelies to fix my hair. PLEASE X
I’d love to actually enjoy a haircut for once but it’s always so uncomfortable and chilly with your hair wet and stylists combing your ears…is it just me?
You look great!
I’d love a new hairstyle because mine is the boringest of the boring and I haven’t been to the hairdressers for more than a trim in ages!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and bla bla bla!! Please help my hair!
Ruth Crilly you are one classy lady. The Josh Wood salon is more like experiencing an art gallery than a hair salon. Even the flower display of moss covered urns Is compelling. Luxurious on the senses you wish the shampoo scalp massage never ends. You leave looking and feeling more polished than you have felt since you can remember alongside the celebrities who frequent for their regular top up. A+++
Would love to win this as I’m going grey and need some help to do it more gracefully!
Thanks for the opportunity! Would truly make my life right now!
I would love to win this, and get my hair colour sorted out.
Oh yes please ! , my poor hairdresser is so used to me saying …… I’ve had enough just cut it off …. thankfully this usually translates to a trim or minor colour change. Would love an no verhaul. Fingers crossed xxx
Yes to a no-verhaul. Looking great Ruth x
I’d love to win the no-verhaul as I’m bored with my hair but also very lazy. Also, have always wanted to have a nosy in this salon!
After a November hair disaster leading to very dreadful Christmas photos I desperately need a hair overhaul before our belated work Christmas party. Here’s hoping!
Every time I go to the salon I want dramatic change & bottle it at the last minute! It’s hard as a blonde to get change through colour so I would love to see what this crack team recommends for my no-verhaul! Brilliant give away Ruth xx
My hair is an absolute bloody disaster so best of luck to all at Josh Wood if I win. Hahaha.
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
no really it looks great and i have had the same hair style forever so this would be a great way to review it!
I would love a No-verhaul. I DIY my colour and have the same old cut – but too nervous to do anything too radical. Would be a fab way to start off the New Year :-)
Good hair? Yes, please.
Although I don’t have blonde hair I’m sure the team at Josh Wood could work wonders on my brunette hair…would love to win. Love all your posts Ruth and hair looks fab xx
Yes please, I would love the change of my hair being nibbled and coloured by Kat and Melanie!
Fab post, I would love to win this prize as my hair is certainly in need of a little TLC…
I love the waves on you. What a treat this would be – yes please!
Your hair looks amazing! My hair hasn’t been touched in like a year so this would be perfect aha.
Your hair looks amazing, but that’s to be expected from you and Josh Wood talent! I’m in desperate need of an hair update and this could be an amazing opportunity for me! Being a nurse doesn’t always allow me to spend money on colouring my hair, so I look like a grey mess most of the times!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one. But seriously, if my hair could be in decent shape for my wedding that would be
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.” This was too good not to comment ❣️
Josh Wood is a genius – would love a hair revamp.
I’ve been feeling exactly the same. Does the orange striped Mum bob need to go? Would love some advice from an expert and dying to try Josh Woods services!
Long, blonde and curly has been my hairstyle for years now, I’d love to see what version of that I came out with! On the countdown to baby number 2 so swishy hair would be just so perfect. Love your blog and youtube, so so funny and real xxx
Your hair looks amazing! Mine definitely needs some expert attention! Thanks for the competition xx
I always get that feeling in September, along with the certainty that I need to now begin learning something new! I love your hair and your grey pullover XO
To quote Michaelangelo “I am still learning”. But I’m betting he didn’t attain knowledge of either the no-verhaul or the dropped root! Whereas I, lucky me, now know them to Be Things. Specifically, things hitherto entirely absent from both my long life and greyish bob. (Um, doesn’t Greyish Bob sound like that bloke who’s always lurking down the pub…)
Anyway, I would be deliriously grateful for the opportunity to experience these 21st century marvels now that you Ruth, and Josh Wood have educated me!
Snazzy do? Yes please!
Oh yes please…I need this in my life x
No-verhaul – great word, and it looks gorgeous! I’d love to be in with a chance of winning xx
I love the fact that the new bag got in on the act!
Your hair looks good too!
I think a no-verhaul is exactly what my hair needs! What a fab prize! And a hair dressers that serves food.. usually I just bring an emergency cereal bar with me
Love the hair. And what a fantastic giveaway.
Ruth, I am having serious hair envy. The new hair looks gorgeous! It’s amazing how a few little tweaks can completely change a look. I turn 40 this year and have had the same hairstyle for years. I would love the opportunity to be primped and pampered by your fabulous team!
Hair looks beaut as always! I love the no-verhaul concept. I’ve never really been friends with my hair but this could do wonders for our relationship x
Last had my haircut before my wedding… 3 years ago… and this year have lost loads with bloody postpartum hormones!
This would be dreamy Ruth, oh wise one!
Yes Please!!!
And Thank you
Oh your hair looks amazing! I am in desperate need of a no-verhaul xx
Would love this. Just checked and I live 282 miles away but I don’t care, I would travel in a heartbeat if I could be no-vehauled
Looking gorgeous! Would be a dream to have my hair done at Josh Wood
Love this hair, and the work from the Josh Wood salons!
I could do with a no-verhaul! Totally in the same books, want a dramatic change but not sure it’s sensible or I have the money for the upkeep!!
Yes, a thousand times yes. Please.
I’m completely unoriginal so I’ll go with the straight out flattery: oh Ruth, oh truly wise one, owner of hair that shines like the sun and a smashing shirt!
Oh oh OH! I would so love to get a cut & colour. Greys are growing in (all the time) and I need some professional advice!
Lurker No: 367………
Hair looks great! This would be amaaaaazing! – getting married this year but I have v. frumpy hair right now that needs sprucing! x
Just because I love your writing style, and cannot compete with a decent comment here you are; Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
xx
I love the new look!
Hi Ruth! What a great giveaway. I’m celebrating my 40th birthday this year. At the moment I have blonde highlights all over my head (a bit too blonde I’m thinking) and lots of grey coming through and roots about 3 inches long (attractive I know!). I’m trying to grow the blonde out as my lovely hairdresser (bless her she really is adorable and a great cutter) reallly doesn’t know how to get that lovely balayage??? effect that you have going on. I’m so worried my hair is going to look a right pigs ear for my 40th and apparently my sister is taking me to the Langham (far too posh for this northerner) but we really don’t know where to go with it as my hair likes to try and turn red when I have it died (heaven knows why as it is as cool coloured as it can be!) The slightly darker at the roots and all multicoloured like yours is exactly what I’m aiming for but no idea on how to get there. Help!
I love your new (old) look Ruth. My ‘do could do with a bit of attention too so please count me in for the draw.
Ps. I thought my hairdresser was the only one who said ‘nibble’. Cracks me up every time!
I would LOVE this! My hair just always seems to hang so flat and the colour always leans yellow after the first wash (no idea why it does that!) so I’d love to find a way to remedy this. If I don’t win, please try to convince Josh that these big London brands need to set up in other cities across the country!
I have fine hair which has been bleached forever. Currently, because don’t know how to move forward (coming up to 60) ash grey under the blonde, have not been back to hairdressers forever so hair now lacking shape possibly too long and quarter grey with lots of broken short strands so frizz on the grey section. Want something age appropriate but not too bright which cheap blonde colour seems to give you and low maintenance as I would not be able to afford lots of visits at any salon. Popped in to a few hairdressers but have not felt confident with their suggestions. Would really be a dream to go to such a salon and get a template which could be followed locally, Thank you for the chance to win. For now I remain in a hair-nowhere place.
Wow, what an incredible opportunity! Yes please.
I am on a big hair journey at the moment, embracing my naturally curly texture and working out the products and styling steps that work with, not against, my curls. I’ve put cuts and colours on hold while I get to grips with that and it is definitely having results so would love to win this now that I can have a proper convo with a stylist! For fellow curly/wavy ladies, google ‘curly girl method’ and don’t look back!
Ruth, your giveaways are always so brilliant!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on!
Haha… and I am also in desperate need of a much coveted no-verhaul! Fingers and toes crossed!
Ruth, thanks for the opportunity, I would absolutely love this!
This prize would be the dream for me. I haven’t had a cut in over a year or colour in around 4! I’ve been thinking about going back to having colour but been putting it off for a number of reasons – this would give me a real kick up the bum to make more effort, plus the perfect excuse to escape for a few hours from a very hormonal pre-teen who has been driving me round the bend…
And can I just say you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on!
Hi Ruth, lovely hair do! I’m totally stuck in a hair rut after years of dying my own hair at home, and would love the chance to have an expert give me an overhaul (whether it be subtle or dramatic!) Catherine xx
Oh how I would love to have some hair …. currently going through chemo . Your hair looks gorgeous Ruth.
Oh Ruth, this is just what I could do with!
My hair is a disaster- would LOVE to win this!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on. :-)
I would love a no-verhaul as I am still growing my hair back from losing it through chemo. It is almost there but I feel like I am wearing a busby at the moment. Love Ruths hair it always looks amazing and very natural Xx
I always want some definitive change to my hair (currently growing out a fringe) and am toying with platinum or a crop for spring. Both of these would be a mistake: I know it, my hairdresser knows it, my 48-year old face is SURE of it. A no-verhaul is what is required, and yours looks AMAZING!
Oh god I would love a no-verhaul! Just about recovered from hair loss/weird regrowth from my 2 year old and with a 2 week old baby the postpartum hair loss is looming ..
Looks wonderful. Would be amazing to win this prize!
Hi Ruth
This would be an absolute dream for me. My hair wants to be forever brassy which I hate and nobody (hairdressers wise) seems to be able to solve the problem. I have been chasing cool tones for most of my adult life always ending up disappointed. If I could get the guys at Josh Wood to solve my challenging colour woes you would be my forever hero and I think I would probably cry happy tears! I’m also on a weight loss journey so this would be the icing on the protein bar (not cake) to have an amazing new doooo tooooo. Xx
Sorry I forgot another big reason why I am the perfect candidate for a new doo, I turn 40 on the 30 January how could I forget THAT! Case closed xx
I would LOVE to have my hair done at Josh Wood, The experience would really be a fantastic treat and I would relish the expert guidance.
Wow the transformation is sublime. I just the colours. So sensitive yet vibrant and sexy.
Beautifully done!
Love it! Unlike yours mine is in definite need of an overhaul!
Every week i’m convinced I need a perm haha! Like a cool voluminous julia roberts style one, but i also have masses of fine hair and am the laziest person in the world so i’ll stick to plaiting it when its wet and avoid the inevitable; that i’ll get it permed and it will get matted and i’ll brush it out and look like Hagrid.
I would love to have my hair done by the amazing Josh Wood. Since having my amazing two children I can’t find the time to properly go and have my hair done or be able to get it done somewhere as amazing as Josh Wood.
I haven’t cut my hair in about two years – part fear of overhaul, part penny pinching, part indecision. The thing I miss the most is the whole experience. A few hours that’s just for you, and you get to come out the other side feeling like a glamorous, relaxed goddess (at least until your next shower, when I inevitably fail to match the salon blow dry!). Anyway it would be totally lovely to win this comp but either way, perhaps this has at least reminded me that I could probably allow myself a nice hair cut and relaxing day soon, because it’s worth it!!
I’ve never coloured my hair and always wanted to!! My 21st birthday is coming up and it would be amazing for that. Your hair looks stunning xxx
Your hair looks fab! After 2 years living in the middle East with the sun, chlorine and bad water, my hair is not in great shape! Now I’m back to England, it’s def time to sort it out!!
Love your hair! Would be a dream to get my hair done there!
I would love to win to give my hair a good sorting out!
Fab prize, would lover a No-verhaul! Also…
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on
:D
This would be amazing to win. My hair needs some magic!
I decided a new year overhaul was needed and had 6inches of my hair cut off and the colour changed. I can safely say I hate it. I know it’s only hair, it will grow back. But I wish I hadn’t done it. A no-verhaul was what was needed.
my hair is looking rather hagrid-esque at the moment so a hairover would be much appreciated! yours looks fab as usual
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing jumper-like blouse you have on!
Hi Ruth! I love your blog. Recently back to freelancing, and after spending too long alone at home really do need an overhaul.
Yes please yes please yes please
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
AND… yes please yes please I have intense fear about having my hair cut or coloured (thanks to years of too-short trims and disastrous dip-dyes), but also an intense boredom with the average-length-average-brown ‘do’ on my head. The result – three years of tentatively trimming my split ends over the kitchen sink with the same scissors I cut pizza. A no-verhaul sounds like it was made for me. Yes please yes please yes please!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today (haha)!
If only my hair looked half as fab xx
Wow. You look amazing- and it looks amazing there.
If you are trying hair masks, Espa Pink hair and scalp mud is amazing. If it can get my long, curly, obstinate hair in order, and keep it feeling good for a good week or two then it would work for anyone.
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
I really would love to be in with a chance to win, I’ve been neglecting my hair somewhat due to being a first time mum and it’s in desperate need of some love and attention
Hey Ruth always admired josh wood’s Salons work!! You’re hair looks fab! Xx
Ruth!! You look amazing, love the colour and the haircut, it would be amazing to be able to meet the artists behind it. Thank you so much for the giveaway, fingers crossed! Xxx
Would you be offended if I just copied your hairstyle, exactly as it looks in the pics? :)
Not sure they would be able to handle my naturally curly hair as every hairdresser I have ever been to looks at it in confusion, but I live in hope ;-) I would love to show my daughter how much I love it instead of tying it back every day. I would love a No-verhaul! xx
I haven’t had my rather long hair cut in over a year now, and I stopped using black box dye on my naturally dark blonde/light brown colour back in March after nearly five years of dying. I’ve got a lot of regrowth going on right now! I look like a two-toned member of a cult or the Charles Manson family so I am in desperate need of a hair makeover.
I love this post! I’m forever the same thinking I want something dramatic because I forever live with a Bun shoved on top of my head( which my mum confirmed to me over the Christmas period when she reminded me I’ve had the same hair for 25 years!) On top of my head it sits. When I make the effort when it’s down I feel good but a full time working mum and student and wife when do we get time to do our hair every morning! I’ve started using Josh wood home colour and to be honest it’s amazing I can maintain a beautiful colour from home which makes me feel good but I feel like a No-verhaul of my own is need! You look amazing the colour and cut has really lifted you!
I am in desperate need of a no-verhaul. The constant battle with grey hair that sticks out on the top of my head plus super thick hair makes me want to reach for the clippers and shave it all off!
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Heehee. All true.
Yes please to a Ruth-inspired No-verhaul! Definitely in need of one.
Thanks Ruth!
Thanks for the competition.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed Xxx
Holy moly! Would be a dream, my barnet is a right state!
I’ve been so envious of people who go to Josh wood since I heard of them a few months back!!
Exactly what I’d need right now!! (And yes Ruth you are amazing) :)
Need! I’m lucky if I manage to brush my hair these days.
I would love this so much! I have so many greys peeking through – aged 28 and its a little bit depressing I must admit :(
You would rock a pixie crop Ruth! I would not but I would love a treat from the Josh Wood team as I cannot get my hair coloured the way I want it here no matter how many pictures are discussed. Thanks for the offers and fab in-depth reviews xxx
Beautiful hair – I could do with something very similar!! A great colourist is worth their weight in gold.
Dear Ruth, I would love a no-verhaul, just like you! X
Gorgeous! I’m trying to grow my hair out at the moment after having exactly the same problem – I love styled short hair but I never get round to it – my life revolves around loving the idea more than the execution.
I hereby promise to maintain my no-verhaul if I win ;)
Oh my this would be a fab chance to show DH that all the money I’ve spend after recommendations from you (Boden playsuit I am looking at you) was not totally in vain!
Do keep it coming, love the blog, looking forward to your Flower Beauty review
Oooooh! Choose me please xxx
This would be the absolute dream for me! After not straightening, cutting or colouring mine for over a year and letting it just grow… i’m in dire need of a restyle!
look beautiful! hair goals :) xx
Hi Ruth, I am at the end of post partum hair loss after having my second child so could really do with a hair overhaul and a bit of pampering! I have also sprouted a few too many greys since becoming a mummy! Like you I have a toddler girl and now a little boy. This parenting lark is a trip, eh?! Good luck to everyone in the competition!
Wowzers this would be amazing
This sounds utterly amazing! I love the idea of a noverhaul…. one to keep in mind
What an amazing giveaway. Winning would make this very difficult time, just slightly easier.
My dog has a better hair cut than me.
There I said it. Yes Winnie the spaniel gets a 2.5 hour pampering session every 6-8 weeks to keep her looking lovely.
I on the other hand whack a home colour on every 4 weeks and pop to a hairdresser 3 times a year for a quick trim
Why!?!?!?!
I have overhauled my make up and skincare routine over the last 2 years with amazing results thanks mostly to you
(and Caroline & Nadine)
My hair is on my 2019 list of “must do much much better” tasks so this would an amazing kick start
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – well done Kat & Melanie at Josh Woods! And what a smashing jumper you have on…grey is my favourite colour! Good luck everyone x
Oh Ruth what I wouldn’t give for the fab giveaway !! My Spleen maybe ? I’m 60 this year and my daughter is getting married but sure whoever wins it will be delighted xx bless you xx
I’m pregnant and would love a low-maintenance hair do that can see me through the last couple of months before all attempts at styling go out the window!!
Hi Ruth,
Please enter me in your fabulous completion, I would love a hair makeover. Thank you very much xx
I’m totally in the same boat! Torn between doing something drastic and having a very, very minor trim and a slight colour refresh. Ultimately I want to grow my hair out so I know that the second option is better (thanks 2017 me for lopping most of my hair off) but that doesn’t shop me from pinning every single idea to a board on Pinterest! I’m using a hair mask from Amika at the moment which is working wonders, but I can tell my year will also be filled with experimental treatment masks! Your hair looks lush though, super healthy and natural :) x
Hi Ruth,
What an amazing thing you are offering!
To be honest I have wanted a cut with Kat for a while now, I think she also does Lily Pebbles. Not that I had a lot of money anyway but now after 8 years of suffering since nearly dying in labour, I have had to give up my job as I was so stressed out, I haven’t had my hair coloured for over 6 months, it’s not looking great and a new cut and colour would really give me the lift I need to start looking for a new job and start feeling like myself again, so if you could consider me, I would be most grateful. I have been an avid follower of your blog for many many years, you are the person who got me into the blogging world, an email from you makes me feel happy, which is exactly what I need right now. We all think your amazing! And the hair looks fab! Xx
#hairgoals
xXx
Just don’t have the time for regular salon visits after having a baby :( this would be a dream!
I would LOVE this! My hair has never quite forgiven me for marinating it in peroxide in my teenage years so what were once thick, curly locks are now more or less in a permanent top knot. Yours looks amazing and it would 100% lift my major January blues to get a bit of the same x
Dear Ruth, how very timely. I’ve been thinking why is it that for the first time in my life I’ve spent months with my hair tied back or pinned up. It’s because my hair is boring and thinning and just not doing what it should for me. I need the help of experts. Experts selected- by you just the thing.
I am in a similar situation to you, where my short hair has outgrown its style and sits around feeling sorry for itself. Now that some bald patches (joy) have grown back in following medical treatment, I need to sort it out!
My bubba has just turned two and as she is quite independent now its time that I sneak out and take some time for me. My hair is still recovering from the post-partum fall out and I’m at a loss at what to do as I can’t be at the hairdressers every 6 weeks.
Ruth you are very wise and brilliant for finding such a great hairdresser, your hair does look fabulous and I love your grey jumper
Oh I’d absolutely love this! I’ve had terrible post partum hair loss but it’s finally growing back (baby is now 10 months old), so a no-verhaul would be a real boost just before I have to go back to work in February. I can never find anyone who can get my blonde colour just right but I want it just like yours!
Ps. I’ve really loved reading your blog for many years especially the baby diaries xx
I have been trying to get my hair to a nice colour for over a year now but still not happy with it and would love to be in the hands of an expert so my hair looks as gorgeous as yours. Thanks for the oppirtunity X
Haven’t changed my hair from bleach blonde in about 8 years! Am in desperate need of something easier to manage
Gorgeous new hair do!
It looks so good Ruth. I am in the midst of a hair disaster – trying to grow out the blonde into a more manageable ombré and improve the condition, but the natural hair growing at the root is having a meltdown, a weird product build up situation that no clarifying shampoo can solve. I need (spenny London hairdresser) help!
Loving the no-verhaul Ruth. Your hair always looks amazing and I constantly ask my hairdresser for a style similar to yours, however it never quite turns out that way. I’ll keep trying…
I seem to have been having ‘no-verhauls’ every year since I joined Facebook according to my profile pics! Subtle tweaks of style and colour but very similar silhouette and attitude!
Your prize sounds amazing and I’d love to win it. But if not I’ll be happy to stick with my beautiful hairdresser who knows me, and my hair, so well. Your hair is looking amazing by the way.
Hi Ruth, have followed you for a while now. My little girl is nearly 2 and at the nearly tender age of 43 I really could do with advice on how to style/maintain my hair, I I have more than a sprinkling of grey going through it, and barely wear it down these days.
Thank you for your lovely blogs/videos and reviews, you make me smile on a regular basis and I love your life updates.
Ruth you are such a hottie! Love this style on you, the colour is bang on! I am a red head and have always toyed with the idea of a complete overhaul… am very very tempted even if I don’t win…. heading over to Josh’s site right now! Thanks for sharing – its always good to know when someone has such a great experience with a team who really are very good at what they do! I see many many hot dates in your future! :-)
God this is what I neeed! After trying a new hairdresser that cut at least two inches more off one side of my hair than the other, I deserve it I feel.
Great hair, great post. Fingers crossed for a noverhaul!!!
Looks fabulous! Rep-ping all the girls with fine shoulder length hair!
Loving the no-verhaul! Currently trying to create something natural with my hair colour but was disappointed with my last salon visit (hate it when that happens)! And what a smashing blouse you have on.
Love the hair, especially all of the different colors at the back. Thank you for the giveaway.
Loving the idea of a no-verhaul! Yours looks great
Dealing with all the post-partum flyaway frizz so yes please!
Would love a tutorial on how to achieve this style with the loose waves. Also, Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on ;-)
Great prize (lord knows I NEED a no-verhaul), but what would make this even better is if Ted makes a guest appearance that day….
Love your hair…wish mine looking half as good!
This. Would. Be. Amazing! Actually started using Josh Wood products last year and they’re brilliant but a ‘no’verhaul’ from the team themselves would be fab, and a real boost to the ol’ confidence. Your hair looks beautiful Ruth, as always!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on. [insert Rik Mayall-as-Richie-from-Bottom-voice for the last part]
Keeping fingers crossed!
Less most definitely can be more, especially when it comes to hair – I’ve learnt that the hard way!!
Although anything would be more than I’ve done to my hair in the last 18 months….
Love your new hairstyle and your blog, would love to get a Josh Wood number done on my hair!
A ‘no-verhaul’ would be the perfect alternative to getting a regrettable fringe cut every time I feel the need for a whole new look.
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
*Correction..you look amazing everyday and I’m praying to the hair gods that I get to indulge in the fantabulousness of Josh Wood Atelier! How amazing does the food look too?!
*crosses everything
Oh yes please!! Can they make me look like you??? And some leg extensions too please!!
Your hair does look stunning! This is the perfect solution for a busy working mom. I’ve been doing something similar but want to go a bit blonder. Might treat myself to the Josh Wood experience :-)
Beautiful! ❤️
Oh Ruth your hair looks lovely! I had my hair cut early December but I hate the cut. I had my over processed hair cut so I can start to grow my hair long again(after having a shoulder length bob for a year). However the hairdresser didn’t give it any shape so I look like someones put a kitchen bowl on my head & cut round it. I have very fine copper hair that fades in the summer so i often get tempted to dye it darker to keep up its shine and vibrancy. I don’t want to change my hair as such I just want to feel more me again & less like a teenage boy
Thanks for the hairspiration, though I would certainly love a Josh Wood, I need a kick up the backside to go do something with mine!
I’ve started to get my first greys so need to start thinking about colour. I do like my natural colours but something to boost it and cover those pesky greys would be great – I think a no-verhaul is in order!
Love love love how they’ve done the colour Ruth! So flattering x
Current hairstyle – Roadkill Skunk! X
Just yesterday I was looking at my hair and was thinking it needs something more than just washing it.
Your hair looks great, Ruth! There is a similar style where the back hair is shorter and front longer. That would also suit you!
Having a tottler and 2 month old I really need low maintenance hair and some sort of a cut again!
Lovely result. Hair looking fabulous!
Ha!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on
Oh Ruth your hair looks amazing. Never tried Josh Wood better it’s expensive but wow what a result. Love your blogs and videos. Your country walk is lovely, two beautiful children, you are incredibly lucky. Have a good week x
If I were so lucky as to win this, can I just ask for a ‘Ruth’?? Your new hair looks amazing and you are one beautiful lady plus a brilliant entertaining writer to boot. Can we be besties?? x
Would love my hair to be “noverhaul”ed before my wedding in April!
You seem to have nailed it! The ultimate low maintenance hairstyle!!! Suits you too!! I love the little tweaks that have freshened it up!! Wonder how they would deal with my dark brown fine wispy locks !!
I think the noverhaul should definitely be a scholar-approved term! Let’s start a hashtag and see where it goes. I could definitely do with a noverhaul – I’m currently saving for a deposit for my first house so money is a bit scarce! x
Love Josh woods colours, they don’t have that fake orange or red glow..when they twinkle on your stress highlights (greys). I’ve got a short pixie cut that is looking tired and shaggy, not sure that curling tongs and blow outs would help, but I really need a damn good cut…. Not many short hair install posts out there for inspiration…need a change/refresh! Ps love the blogs keep ’em coming
I must start saving pennies to go to the Josh Wood salon; the cut, colour and experience all look and sound amazing
I’m due to have my first baby in the next couple of weeks and have been dreaming of getting my hair done a couple of months in as a treat (escape!) for me :) This sounds like it would be heavenly!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Would love new hair as I’m going to be starting a new job soon! :D
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
So true! And good lord I need something nice done to my hair, so, me please!
OMG what a glorious prize! I had my eyebrows shaped there by a lovely American lady. I love the hair no-verhaul, it looks so fresh and springlike. I have natural highlights (haha!) which I am sure that these hair wizards could glorify. You look so pretty with your hair down around your face! Love the bag in the background too! Deeply envious.
I need a definite overhaul. Student lifestyle has had me hacking it with kitchen scissors recently!
I’m in need of any type of haul – overhaul, no-verhaul or even to be honest a pair of overalls might do it!!!
After 2 children, my hair has been well and truly neglected and in desperate need of some TLC. Would just be heaven to have something luxury in my life by the way, you do look lovely xx
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
All of the above is true (your hair really does look excellent!) and my hair is in dire need of a colour refresh and a re-style. This would be heaven!
Love your new look Ruth, this would be the perfect New Year, new me treat! x
Oh, I really need to win this right now…my hair’s been taken over by some mysterious force and refuses to play ball, no matter what I try x
I absolutely love this – the waves, the colour the Gucci Marmont – stunning! x
Oooh, this is exactly what I need! Praying to the hair gods that I win!!
Overhaul or No-Verhaul I know I need something doing with my hair!! Is it bad it looks pretty much the same as when I was 12 over 35 years ago!! Grrr!!
Your hair looks fab Ruth. I’d love to know what Josh and his team could do for me…x
I’m so over my hair. Thick. Heavy and course. A nightmare to manage. Any ‘haul’ would be a blessing!x
WOW, yes please I’d love to visit the team at Josh Wood. Love his hair products. I’m in a bit of a lull and a new hair do would do wonders for my soul.
Love it!
Loving your new look Ruth – I wish mine looked half as good!
My hair would love to go to Josh Wood for a no-verhaul . It’s is either shoved inside a cycling helmet, scraped back whilst I run away from fat or in its native greying, lank state. I have no idea what to do with it and it deserves better.
Well this would be a glorious treat!!
Gorgeous colour on you Ruth! I have just tried the Josh Wood hair treatment oil for the first time and I love it, so it’d be amazing to get a cut and colour at his salon ♀️ x
I truly got the picture of your hair when I saw the rear view. Thank you for such an honest article I feel they really looked after you suggesting perhaps he didn’t need a complete overhaul sometimes we want to take drastic action when we feel our life needs drastic action but a tweak here and there can make a difference you look wonderful
Hi Ruth, thank you for the possibility of winning a once in a lifetime experience at Josh Wood! Your and Pixiwoos’ hair always looks amazing, yet effortless, after a visit! I can only dream of a day where my unruly, curly locks doesn’t resemble being dragged through a hedge backwards/looking like Ken Dodd on a good day! If only there were a way I could get some truly expert advice on a no-verhaul….
Would love a hair No-Verhaul. I have been coloring my own hair for years, and not had it cut in over a year… it’s a solid block of dark brown with no style and in desperate need of some attention. I’m trying to grow it too and need something low maintenance as I have four boys!
Looks absolutely wonderful. As a person who has previously responded to any event with a rapical hair change, I am also learning sometimes less is more.
It looks fabulous, Ruth, would love the opportunity for something similar!
What a babe. I could really do with being more babe – starting with the hair. Please let me win!
C x
Shoo !! Looking grand. So jealous. My hair is so mousy it’s sqeaking. Oh to win. Sigh. Big wish.
Oh yes please to this but scrolling down the comments I am not as worthy as some of these folks but would live the chance to try something new and pick me up for 2019 xx
Eee looks great!
The hair looks amazing Ruth, fab work of Melanie and Kat. I’m the same always tamper with my hair when in need for change.
How I would love no-style hair!
I’m 58 and still haven’t learnt how to cope with my nightmare hair!
Having a hairdresser in the family I’ve only ever had my hair cut in a salon once when I moved out for uni and wanted something drastically different… Of course a huge mistake and I got the opposite of what I asked for :D since moving to London I’ve been cutting my own hair now which is fine but I’d LOVE getting it done properly! Thanks so much for this amazing giveaway :)
I 100% need this in my life! 2 kids zero time to sort out my grown out pixie cut and colour.
Yes please!! I need a hair SOS!
Hi Ruth. Love the effortless hair, you look great! I could definitely do with a no-verhaul!! I’m trying to grow my hair out again since having my son, it’s hard resisting a chop but I’m perservering so far!
Beautiful, as always !! I’m so in need of an overhaul! I was literally saying to my husband yesterday that I would love to have my hair done at josh wood! ☺️
I’ll have what she had please!
Looks beautiful, I need a noverhaul!
Yes to the No-verhaul! I am still on the hunt for a stylist & colorist I can trust after residual childhood hairdressing traumas. Blonde, fine, damaged & in need of some TLC
Feeling in dire need of one of these! After spending the last 8 months growing out the worst haircut of all time, it’s now feeling very blah and in need of some sprucing.
Love your hair and would love to get a new hairstyle for the new year too! Thank you for organising such a great giveaway!
Oh my goodness Ruth …that wall behind you is amazing. ;) You look blooming stunning as always, unlike myself who is in much need of a pamper :)
Ive been trying to grow my hair long but as soon as Christmas was over I’ve been wanting to chop it short! A no-verhaul sounds exactly like what I need! Yours and Sam Chapman’s hair always looks lovely after being here.
This looks gorgeous. Would love to win a hair makeover because it’s definitely needed.
It’s my birthday next week and I’d love to have a hair cut & colour please. In the words of Mick Jagger “You can’t always get what you want…but if you try sometimes, ….you might get what you need”. I so need a haircut & colour! Crossing fingers
Golly gosh – what an amazing giveaway prize this is! I would LOVE to see what Josh Wood Atelier could do to my frizzy, occasionally mousy barnet…! A girl can dream (plus, food at the hairdressers?! What is this madness!)
My go to for realism, thanks for this little dose of “back to reality you’re better as you are” all the best x
Your hair looks gorgeous! Would kill to have a hair overhaul right now – the new year always does this to me! X
Oh Lord I would love to win this! I have been eternally naturally dark (think Morticia) for 34 of my 36 years and then decided to start introducing some caramel-ly honied highlights, which seem to have run away with themselves & I don’t even know what suits me anymore! SOS *send helppppp*
Love the no-verhaul look Ruth! Right up my street, minimal maintenance, fresh colour and confidence to boot. I’m getting married this year and feel totally out of my depth when people ask me what I’m doing with my hair, and they don’t even mean the style on the day! Apparently the cut and colour is a big deal! Help!! With hugely grown out and brassy balayage (I know so 2017) hair and no sense of style apart from long and straight. I’m quite literally at a loose end!
Smashing hair, smashing blouse!
Everyone keeps asking me if i’ve dyed my hair..and not in a good way. Nope-just haven’t had the chance to visit the hairdresser in 6months. It’s gone beyond dark roots to situation critical. I’m embarrassed to be seen in public!
You on the other hand look divine. I need help! X
Oh you look fab, I know exactly what you mean about post baby hair urges, and sadly post bereavement. I hope this is a better year x
Gorgeous hair Ruth. What a lovely prize that would be to win – as I lay here with my 3 week old daughter and wonder why I grew my hair when all I do is tie it up in a bun. Some n-overhaul inspiration would be perfect. Yes please!
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
My hairdresser has moved out of London much to my horror and subsequently I haven’t had my colour done in 12 months as I’ve only ever had one person touch it! Your hair always looks amazing Ruth and I know I would be in the safest hands so please save me from my balyage paralysis (and awful roots!) xxxx
My hair needs some help! I’ve had two babies in 3 years and had hair loss both times. My hair is dark brown but appears this time to be growing back blonde so now I’ve got a layer of short blonde bum fluff going on. I get married in June and am worried I am going to have a multi tonal mullet. Thanks kids!! Xx
Your hair really does look amazing. I would love to have a new do for the new year. My hair suffers from bun and hat (scrub nurse) tragedy and could really do with a major overhaul. I’ve always felt a bit intimidated going into a salon but the gal in the pic with you looks really friendly. Love your new bag too btw. Xx
My hair needs help!!
I SO need this!
What an amazing prize! Would absolutely love to win. I’ve got all my fingers crossed!!!!
Would absolutely love to win. I’ve got all my fingers crossed!!!!
I colour mine ginger at home myself to help save money but it is always one flat colour! The shades in this give your hair such an amazing texture and movement, definitely something missing from mine!
Beautifully styled too!!
What an amazing give away!
It would be a dream come true to be able to get a “noverhaul” at such a prestigious salon.
Love the no-do. Fancy one for me and 2019. M
Oh wow, love your hair curly!
I think my hair could take some inspiration from Mr Bear’s soft ginger tinge and Baxter’s gorgeous texture. Here’s dreaming! xXx
Lush!
No great excuse for the state of my hair but you know other than Netflix. Help a girl out! :)
I would simply ask them to copy this cut and colour, it’s perfect. Then would just need to find someone to make me as beautiful as you to match the hair! ♀️
Love the wavy look You must really look forward to going for a no-verhaul I also love how this word will now probably become part of the Oxford English Dictionary! Xxx
Oh yes please, can I have a fabulous Hair No-verhaul!! Ruth, you look fantastic and I would love a new blonde bob to take on holiday to New Zealand!
Your hair looks gorgeous. Who doesn’t love a low maintenance do.
I would love to see what they would do to my frizzy, curly, does what it wants hair!!!
I would absolutely love a no-verhaul. I’m a busy teacher who spends most days pulling her hair out over the antics of the children, so the idea of a full day of pampering sounds dreamy.
Particularly as I’ve never ever been brave enough to dye my hair, and I think this could be the push I need to finally take the (tentative, subtle-not-shouty) no-vernacular plunge into balyage!
Oh yes please this prize would be a totally self indulgent dream come true – I’m in desperate need of a no-verhaul for 2019!
Ruddy ‘eck Ruth. I do so need the team to take my hair and give it a good shake. I’m dark and about 50% grey and mid-forties. I need a style to minimise regrowth as I’m not yet ready to embrace full on grey – although I did see a woman today with stunning silver hair and I was very envious.
Your hair looks great and the No-verhaul suits you.
Desperately need to get my hair sorted, it’s the curse of working in healthcare. Spend more time taking care of others and not myself. Would love a new cut and colour
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
For a non brave person like me noverhaul sounds just perfect. I haven’t died my hair in years and still suffering from post partum hairloss. Your hair looks beautiful!
Hi Ruth, your new hair looks great. I love the top picture of you with the foils, you look so like Angelica in it.
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Plus I have 5 month and 17 month old babies I NEED a hair cut! X
Hair looks ace Ruth! Would love to win this!
OMG I am in desperate need of an overhaul – busy mum will a full on job and always forget to make time for myself. I have some serious bad rootage going on right now and in desperate need of some tlc!
Gosh me please, this would be incredible
Lovely hair on a lovely lady!!x
What a fab prize! Love the hair.
This made me laugh! I always go to the hairdresser’s with thinking I’ll go for a change and then when they try to suggest changes or tweaks I completely chicken out and leave with the same cut as last time. I’m such a will and always leave cross at myself. Going to a top salon will give me that confidence to make some changes!
Your hair looks dreamy! I would love to win this!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
This sounds exactly like what I need – I have never been great with styling my hair but it’s definitely gone out if the window since having my first baby 4 months ago! A noverhaul is definitely the way to go….
It’s the time of year when my hair starts to get matted underneath from all the scarf wearing, so the annual bob cut is calling. I will then spend the summer growing it out again, as it’ll need to be wanged into a bobble the moment the sun peeks out. I’m currently growing out the autumn fringe…why do I not learn! X
Looks fabulous Ruth! A dream prize, would love some hair guidance in my life xx
Count me in for a noverhaul- it sounds the very thing for a dark January!
Best give away ever!
Yes please oh wise one, I will go in and ask if they will give me ‘the Ruth’ in the same way I once asked for ‘the Rachel’. Love your style x
This sounds amazing, and I understand the no verhaul thing, it’s what I usually end up having after dithering for days about exteme cuts and colours
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
A no-verhaul sounds like just what I need. My hair since having my one year old is all kinds of fluffy and sad and I keep meaning to get it cut shorter (although haven’t found time yet!) but fear it’ll stay scraped up in the ponytail just like my current hair disaster. I definitely need an expert to tell me what to do with it!
Oh haha, funny as usual!! Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Hey Ruth, I’m 10 months post-partum, suffered hair loss and had no time to visit a hairdressers. Suffice to say I’m in desperate need of a total re-vamp and would love a more managble style; I know I’d be in brilliant hands at Josh Wood. Fingers crossed I win so that I can start to feel like the old me again. Good luck to everyone though as we all deserve a little treat in life x
Desperate times.
I had an all over bleach on my naturally mousey brown hair around 2 years ago, got pregnant and havent been able to afford to get to the salon anymore.
My hair now has extremely dark (greasy looking) 20cm roots with brassy blonde straggly ends.
I need a style from a hairdressing magician to allow me to grow out the bleach, embrace my natural colour and for it to look nice.
At the moment I look like i dont give a **** what I look like.
This would be a God send
I would really like to win this prize
And get to eat lunch, undisturbed.
This “I want a big change” came to me last year which, funnily enough, meant that I started to let it grow. So basically a low-budget constant change, if you will. A year later, still in the “I don’t know what I want to do with my hair” state, the no-verhaul sounds exactly the kind of thing I need in my life. My hair’s life.
It’s a constant battle with the roots for me too, Ruth, so it would be brilliant to win this! Thanks for the chance!
Your hair looks amazing Ruth!
I have long black and going grey hair that looks sadder by the minute. This sounds delightful
Love the no-verhaul!
Oh to have hair like yours…
Post two babies, hair has FINALLY got back to the same length, relative thickness restored and now I have NO IDEA what to do with it?!? Send help! Will travel from Ireland :) also, oh Ruth wise one… etc ;)
I had the bright idea to grow out my natural hair colour. Big mistake. HUGE. So bored of it. Also I need to go back to being blonde so I match my husband and baby I’m the odd one out.
Oh wise one, I need this so desperately! My hair needs some serious TLC, and in the words of Kristen Wigg: ‘help me, I’m poor!’ P.s that blouse IS smashing!
Ruth you look fabulous as always. It would be amazing to win this prize – my hair can use any help it can get!
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
Your hair does look good, I could definitely do with a no-verhall!! X
Hi Ruth, You are a Goddess simple as! Xxx
Your hair looks amazing! I need a serious intervention, although I rather fear it would take one of the divine sort to turn my neglected, greying , mane into anything respectable these days! Still, if anyone could do it, I suspect it would be this team. Fingers crossed!
Oooh what a fabulous prize and luxury outing that would be! Currently jumping up and down with hand in the air – pick me pick me pick me……please
Wow what a prize! My hair looks like a Bag lady with a flock of pigeons as comrades. Country life has not been kind to the poor mop on my moon head. I would love a proper chop without it being fashioned as a wurzel gummage aunt sally tribute band
Reached the wrong end of my 40s and would love a subtle hair overhaul please :)
Oh Ruth your hair looks AMAZING! I would love to have my hair done. At the moment I am growing out an undercut and the rest of my hair pretty much resembles worzel gummidge – I can barely get a brush through it it’s dreadful. I’d love to have a professional consultation and experience where the stylist really takes into consideration things personal to you , ie face shape, skin tone etc .. This would be nothing short of a dream
Fingers are crossed for this! Determined to be happier with my hair this year and embrace my curls as much as possible.
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
I SOoooo need this!
This sounds amazing! I’m definitely in need of a no-overhaul, especially with a toddler in tow! Xx
Love the hair Ruth! Soo need my hair did too. Xx
Looks lovely I need a change and pick me up ! Would love to win
This would be the absolute dream! I’ve never coloured my hair but I would love to and I haven’t yet found a hairdresser I trust enough to take the plunge, thanks for the fabulous competition
I’ve used the Josh Wood at home colour system ( based on your recommendation may I add!) And loved it! A proper ‘at the salon’ one would be immense I reckon!
Oooooooh…yes please! I’ve never coloured my hair and I feel it’s time to take the plunge! Yours looks gorgeous!
I love the idea of a no-verhaul! I cut my waist-length hair into a bob in September and while I love the shorter hair, this would be a great way to get the most out of it! Your hair looks great by the way :)
Hair today gone tomorrow! Totally love your hair and dream of such gorgeous colours so amazing – if I win I think I will give it to my Mum she would be over the moon, she has similar hair colour to yours so the tones would look amazing! Best blog, best YouTube, best instagram and best dry shampoo (and pets) x
How timely! I’ve been growing out a fringe for, oh, years it seems. Along with growing out layers with the aim of having easy to manage, one-length hair. I’m nearly there, so why am I looking at pics of micro fringes and inverted bobs (or do I mean A-line bobs, are they the same?) Why i think a micro fringe will suit me, lord only knows. No elfin features here, just tired, 55 year old saggy eyes and a cowlick. Arrgghhh!!!
Oh bugger. I just cut my long hair into a long bob and am not entirely sure about it. This post is about two weeks too late… It was the result of the post baby “I look like shit and my hair is falling out” fear, and my beloved fringe had to grow out three years ago due to the first bout of post partum hair loss. So maybe a no-verhaul is what I need to get used to this new look!
Oh and you look ace.
Ruth… I’m having a hair confidence crisis! I’m 31 and getting a serious amount of grey in my very dark brown hair. As I spend all my hair budget on dying it every 5 weeks, it has had nothing but a trim once a year for the past 5 years!
I toy with changing up my style and my colour all the time, but actually I like my long dark (mostly dark) locks, they’re pretty easy maintain, I just need a little jolt of excitment to fall back in love with my mop!
What a wonderful giveaway, your hair looks ace! It would be amazing to have this opportunity, since having my daughter I have become very boring with my hair choices!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Beautiful colour, so much depth to it. Mine always looks so flat in comparison, wish I could have a teensy weeny bit of that gorgeous depth and swish to my hair!
I’m in major need of a no-verhaul! Fell into the trap of all over highlights which mean my roots are very obvious when they come through, and I’m not the high maintenance type at all! Even if I don’t win this you’ve given me major hair inspiration as I also have dark blonde hair and want something low maintenance. Thank you as always!
X
OH Ruth what a beautiful no-verhaul! This fellow Somerset living chick would love to win a day in the big smoke and give my hair some well deserved TLC as it’s currently as dry as the haystacks I’m forever surrounded by! However that gives the impression I’ve been upto no good with farmer Giles which unfortunately is far from the truth! Zoe x
I always want to do more with my very thick hair and am not sure my current colourist would tell me if the colour was not right.
This would be a excellent treat! Great giveaway!
This would be the perfect time for me to have an no-verhaul.::you know it’s bad when your mother grabs a strand and exclaims – “oh darling I had forgotten how dishwater your natural colour is” Cheers Mum!!!!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on
Well this post is great two fold, one I would love to win this amazing prize, it’s the dream. But 2 even if I don’t win I have some awesome hair inspiration when it comes time for mine to have a chop, which is now to be honest. Thanks Ruth and fingers crossed!
2 small children = grey roots + home dye hair disaster. Please help! Ps your hair looks lovely
Oh I dream of a pampering. I remember those days of spending three hours in a hair salon enjoying a cup of tea… now days I don’t seem to have three hours to ever sit in a chair…. (HOWEVER on another note I am absolutely outstanded at how much I can achieve in three hours without a small human hanging off of me. Hoover, mop, tidy the house, two loads of washing, prepare a meal, clean the bathrooms… that’s tonight’s achievements just since bedtime!)
A 13 month old here. A husband who is away from home until December and to top it all off I have just had a surprise that baby number two is on its way. I don’t think I’m ever going to be able to get out the house when baby number two arrives, so a no fuss no style haircut is exactly what I need…. (or a wig)
P.s I have incredible hair envy!!
“Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.”
;) This cut suits you so well and the colour is just amazing.
I would really love to have the chance for a make-over …
Looks great!
What a great result. The perfect low maintenance do but it still feels new.
A no-verhall sounds exactly what I need. I’ve moved to a new city with my partner recently and hardly know anyone which has left me feeling a bit lost. To combat this, inner me is screaming ‘dye your hair an outrageous colour and cut it all off!’ A novehall should save me from temptation!
This competition would also put off the inevitable having to find a new hairdresser in Bristol too!
Pick me! Pick me! ♀️
Hi Ruth. Thank you for this competition! I’m entering because a no-verhaul is exactly what I have been looking for. I have been growing my hair for the past 3/4 years, and first grew out all of my damaged bleach, and now have all virgin hair (for the first time in years!). My hair now reaches the middle of my back and is in the best condition it has been in years – I’m so proud of myself! Now I’m looking to inject a little light back into my hair/face – I am a dark ash blonde, and although I love the colour I need a slight boost. I have my fingers crossed!
Hi, I’m getting married in Australia in April and I would love a natural blond colour for the big day. I’ve been a big fan of Josh Wood colour for a while now but have never tried the salon so this would be a great introduction. Love your hair in this as it looks so natural and easy maintenance and that’s exactly the look I’m going for too! Lauren x
Well timed post for me! Trying to grow my hair long for the first time in…. forever, and having the itch to go back to the bob… you’ve convinced me to stick a mask on and ride it out a bit longer! Xx
Omygosh would LOVE to win this!!! I live near the salon in Notting Hill but I can’t afford to get my hair done there so it would be a dream! Also I need to try a new hair salon….the one i currently go to didn’t cut my hair right last time so I had to cut a bit off MYSELF when I got home! #help
This would be an absolute dream! Your hair looks great :)
Okay, the idea of this is so so so appealing! Had my hair damaged by a bad colour a few years ago and now it’s looking a bit unloved after growing out and finally getting back to it’s healthy self. This would be fab!
Oh I would love a bit of pampering! The grey coming through after having my baby is alarming and my 3 year old’s attempts to give me ‘plaits like Anna’ don’t really help matters. I go back to work in March and I’d love to go back looking vaguely together and not a bedraggled mess!
My hair has resembled a birds nest for the best part of 3 years.. your hair looks lush! Count me in for this giveaway :) x
Oooh, yes please!!!
Looks gorgeous! I am tempted to go lighter again after seeing your no-verhaul! X
Hi,
Em……yes, yes, yes. Have no creativity or ‘vision’ when it comes to my hair and always end up with the same ole ding dong. Would absolutley love this!
No-verhaul is such a good word for it. Sometimes the small changes are the best
Please, please, please let it be me. I’m in desperate need of a no-verhaul.
Oh Ruth, you always brighten up my days! And I’m totally with you and constantly get hair cuts. Last year’s asymmetrical pixie meant I now have to wait and grow… So I thought I’d do colour for now!
Me pls
Hair is looking fantastic. No-verhauls all round!
Yes please to the no-verhaul… or overhaul… any kind of haul really to get my hair (and me) looking half as fabulous as you do!
Your hair looks beautiful!
Your hair is fab Ruth!
I’d love to win this prize – my hair is (slowly) growing back after chemo and it has a mind of its own! I’d love a cut and some advice so it can look good whilst it grows xxx
Ruth! Yes to your hair. And JEEZ could I do with a hair fix. X
I would absolutely love the no- verhaul. My hair is in need of a bit(lot) of TLC and day out in London to top it all up would be ah-mazing. xx
Commenting because I need some luck, and nice hair for distraction purposes! I face planted onto concrete loosing 4 teeth (don’t recommend it) then was made redundant. Confidence is at an all time low… nice hair would make interviews that tad easier to get through right now.
STOPPPPP! Oh man I feel so sorry for you. I’m sorry, that’s just the worst luck ever. xxx
Ooh ! This would be fantastic. Your hair always looks lovely Ruth .. mine’s seriously lost it’s mojo. C’mon, help a fellow Worcestershire gal out -Alvechurch ( almost Redditch right?!?) xxx
’tis indeed!!! : )
I would love a hair overhaul, between my tweenager 3.5 year old and 3 month old baby I have very little time for pampering. It would be great to feel myself again and leave daddy in charge for the day
Tweenager’s about right!
Ooh, I love the idea of a no-verhaul. I have been battling the urge to die my hair a bright, bright red since my son was born in July, and with added new year feelings, my resolve not too go back to high maintenance colour has been weakening this month!
Yeah don’t do it! It’s never a good idea. I moved 120 miles during the new baby phase, totally insane.
I’ve never dyed my hair and would love to dip my toes (or tips) in with an experienced colourist! Also feeling the no-verhaul vibes….!
I want your hair xx
Your hair looks amazing! As a mum of two, I’ve got those strange post pregnancy tufts of hair growth happening at my roots and my hair has become so much weaker! Would love time for a brilliant pampering session such as this, along with gaining some great hair advice.xx
Oh yes, that’s so annoying, the regrowth!
I’m seriously thinking of travelling from the Westcountry to London in the next few weeks to have my extremely long hair chopped off into a bob. Why does everyone seem to have one right now?!
A no-verhaul would be great, before I do something drastic! Xx
Yes please! I haven’t had my hair cut since little one was born! Xxx
Love the multi tones running through your hair, such a nice refresh!
It’s gorgeous isn’t it? x
Desperately seeking an overhaul! I’ve had the same hairstyle for so long and hubby doesn’t even notice a difference anymore when I’ve been to the hairdressers… I would love the Josh Wood team to work their magic on me :)
Would absolutely love to receive this!
What an amazing prize. Love your InstaStories!
Would love a no-verhaul! Got engaged before Christmas so scared of doing anything too dramatic pre-wedding but would like a change!
Hi Ruth,
This looks amazing- I want hair like yours!! Beautiful.
Ps. I’ve followed your blog for about 8 years and I swear you don’t age xx
Oh crumbs my hair is looking sad right now, I’ve been putting off going to the hairdresser for longer than I care to admit!
Hi Ruth,
I wouldn’t normally comment but this prize really grabbed my attention! After having my 2nd son in August I really haven’t had any ‘me time’ and also get the urge in Jan for a change, but for now a trim would just be great ;) off now to try to get my baby into his crib without him waking up ;/
Katie
Ps love your blog
Yes please xx i had a massive wack cut off after baby number 3 (i like a drastic change after babies too!!) But now I look back at photos of long luscious locks when i was pregnant and get all whimisical about long hair again!!
Wowsers! New old hair would be amazing, in fact just about anything that doesn’t have half chewed toddler food in it would be an improvement. Fingers crossed.
This is the stuff of dreams!!!
I would love to be entered into this competition. My engagement ended on Boxing Day and I am desperate for a hair change to shake off the January blues and feel like me again!
Looks amazing Ruth. Would love this x
oh, yes please
and, yes, a pixie would suit you.
Ohhh!!! Yes please!!!
Love your hair!
Love you!
Would love a hair ‘no-verhaul’ even more!!!
Your hair always looks fabulous Ruth let’s be honest! I am struggling with mine at the mo as being menopausal a lot of it is falling out and whatever I do it just looks and feels pants so I would love your fancy pants salon to give me a Ruth-over! Xx
I had the worst haircut of my life after deciding I needed to be a ‘new me’ after going through a rubbish time. It didn’t help and the haircut was also quite badly done :( so would love a no-verhaul if it comes my way :-) Hair looks great Ruth!
I have never coloured my hair and now the greys are starting to show. Have always been slightly scared of getting it coloured so would be great to see the team at josh wood!
Love your hair Ruth; I found love to get my hair cut and coloured there, it would be amazing!
Your Insta Stories are really lovely
I’ve ended 2018 and started 2019 with flu and then bronchitis. My entire being is in need of an everything haul. Would be great to start at the top with my stuck in a rut hair and work my way down….
I feel totally the same! New year new hair, but agree a few tweaks on what I have already is the best idea, especially as I’m rubbish at styling and find doing my hair quite a chore.
That would be a dream – been stuck in a hair rut for years and I need an escape plan!!
My boring ‘mum’ bob and box hair colour are in desperate need of an update, this would be perfect! Ps your hair looks gorgeous xx
So preeeettty as my 4 year old would say. I always see people with the most fabulous hair tagging Josh Wood. Would love to try them out!
Yes please! A no-overhaul would be amazing. Despite being generally quite content with my colour, this time of year it seems to always go a bleugh! Turn 40 this year and could do with a few tweaks so I still look like me but just a bit (was going to say funkier but that does make me sound old) brighter…! Looking gorgeous as always Ruth x
I know for me, sometimes it takes a few hours at the salon to put that pep in your step. It’s that lovely me time. I have to make time for that as I work as an archaeologist, outside and muddy/rained on all year round. Ruth, I love how honest you are, I don’t do anything to my hair during the week either. It’s a dry and go job! I could only dream of having a no-verhaul at Josh Wood what a fab giveaway.
Oh heavens I need a no-verhaul! My hair has lost its mojo this winter, and I can afford a major overhaul! ❤️
Amazing, brilliant Ruth with the smashing blouse etc…..naturally
I wish I’d known of this no-verhaul business before Christmas – I’ve ended up with something a little too different to what I expected and don’t feel like me!
Lesson learned.
Your hair though, looks bloody lovely!
I feel like I can always trust that anything Ruth is recommending, is well worth it! (Same goes for Hirons, Anna and Lily!) Looking stunning as usual and I dare say, that’s bloody good blouse haha! x
Me, me, me! Yes please. I also need to learn how to do that wonky wavy thing.
Hair looks fab as always! Mine is never quite the right blonde despite going in with all sorts of pictures!
Yes please!! My greys are causing my untold amounts of grief, compounded by my mother telling me at Christmas that she didn’t start going grey until she was “at least in my forties”. I started at 25
Yes please!!!!
Oh Ruth, oh wise one, you are so amazing and brilliant and your hair looks fabulous today – and what a smashing blouse you have on.
Hahaha no, really I love your hair and would love the chance to get my hair done!
Oh my, this is what I am sorely in need of. Grey hair making a shocking appearance in big stripes, blonde fading fast and i don’t even think I can call my roots, roots anymore. I’ve given myself accidental dip dye and I’m way too old to pull that trend off!
Would be absolutely thrilled to have the Josh wood team overhaul my barnet. Doubt they’d be thrilled at the proababke mammoth task in hand…
Great hair. Looks amazing. I have super straight hair and that kind of look is kind impossible for me))
A “noverhaul” would be amazing I don’t think I’ve once left the hairdressers happy with what they’ve done…maybe this could be the first time!!
Love it! And Josh Wood products – the shampoo and conditioner are the only ones I use now along with the colour. I would love to see what someone else would suggest for me!
My hair has been in rehab since a fateful bleach incident a couple of years ago so this would be amazing!
Would love a no-verhaul for my hair!!
Yes please ! This sounds amazing I would love to do this !
Odessa
I love it when you find a really great hairdresser, yours is clearly brilliant and knows exactly what you want/need!
I would love a no-verhaul on my hair. I have curly hair and going to the hairdressers can be such a pain because of this. Would be amazing to see what could be done with it in the hands(scissors) of the professionals!
Love the hair, jumper, wall and bag in the after shot! X
Oh this is the most amazing giveaway and would solve all my wedding hair anxiety dreams I’m currently having!!!
I literally just wondering whether I’d missed the exciting offer you hinted at, when as if by the power of my thoughts, this popped up. Clearly I have superpowers I wasn’t aware of. I would adore a no-verhaul as lovely as yours, from the wonderful team at Josh Wood, and it would be just in time for my 50th birthday. (How the hell did that happen?)
I love the new bluntness of your hair Ruth. Would love something similar myself!

Hey, Great hair ♀️
I keep deliberating what to do with my very rapidly greying, brown hair. My thought is to go lighter, yet last time I went to the hairdressers I somehow ended up agreeing to a darker colour with caramel highlights – nevermind! However, if I were to win a no-verhaul that would be amazing! Xx
Ruth is an inspirational role model and brand ambassador. Although I have teens not tots! My hair has never been dyed and doesn’t have much attention – it would really be a great indulgence to be treated to a hair make-over….PLEASE x
Hi Ruth, looks great. I am definitely I need of a no-certain!
I really love Josh Wood products – the radiant shine hair oil smells divine! It would be a dream to visit the salon and be utterly renewed. Had a rubbish few months after breaking my shoulder and being stuck at home. First day back at work today – so ready to rejoin the human race and look less like a demented hermit!
I haven’t done anything (and I mean ANYTHING) to my hair in a good two years after a disastrous spate experimenting with platinum blonde and purple dye, before turning the whole thing a dark brown and forgetting it ever happened. It’s turned into a light-brown-fading-into-blonde now, and while I like it ~enough~, the sound of a no-verhaul sounds amazing. Just a little something-something to fall back in love with hair that is just kind of ‘there’ right now. On my head. Not doing very much. The rejujed blonde in yours looks so good, and gives that fresh January vibe without really being too drastic. It’s so beautiful.
