I don’t know about Ginsberg being God but somebody definitely is – whoever made this candle, for a start. It’s absolutely gorgeous! It has a really unusual scent that reminds me of when I used to hide in my granny’s greenhouse, tucked into the tangle of branches and vines. A green smell. Wet leaves? The official scent name is Fig Leaf and Tomato and that makes total sense; it has a sharpness to it – a fruitiness – that nicely lifts the earthy fig and makes the whole experience distinctly un-fig-like. Not that I would ever knock fig scents, it’s just that this candle gives the fig a whole new dimension.
The packaging speaks for itself: I predict many a dressing table sporting one of these (emptied) jars as a brush holder come next year!
This Bella Freud candle is £37 at Cult Beauty – burn time 40 hours, though it does a pretty good job of room fragrancing without even needing to be lit.
