Estée Lauder Wild Violet Collection

by | Feb 15, 2011

Estée Lauder Wild Violet CollectionI decided to swatch the lipsticks and lip ‘gelées’ from Estée Lauder’s new Spring collection, which led to a rather interesting video – mostly because I was shocked at how easy the colours were to wear. They look quite scarily bright in the packaging, but are incredibly flattering on the lips. Even the Violet shade, which I was a little nervous of, came out looking hot and sexy for summer!

All of these shades look amazing now against paler skin, and will look even more amazing with a tan or a hint of a summer glow. The lipsticks are so easy to apply – they’re not ‘sheer’, but they don’t have the difficulty-factor of an entirely opaque, strong lipcolour. The lip glosses – gelées – are simply brilliant layered over the lipsticks. As you’ll see from the video, they bring the lipsticks alive and make them brighter and even more vibrant. Worn on their own, they give just a hint of colour – and they’re not sticky, which is a definite bonus.

If you’re scared of brights, then you might find these shades and textures to be a good introduction – no liners, primers or blotters required. The red especially wowed me – it’s just so…juicy! Take a look at the video and let me know what you think – I’m also rather won over by the various violet eye products. You’ll be seeing them pop up in a makeup look very soon…
