Does anybody else remember the Dewberry range from Body Shop, or am I really showing my age? Dewberry shower gel was probably one of my very first beauty products that I bought with my pocket money; and I remember when it first came out in the late eighties. In those days (oh God, did I just write that?) the lovely people at The Body Shop used to give you free samples of anything you wanted, and the samples were really big! I used to go in all the time asking to try things. Imagine doing that now!
Anyway, what’s set off this little nostalgic trip down memory lane? I’ll tell you. A dewberry scented hairbrush. Yes, you read that correctly. A hairbrush with scent. Why? I have no idea, it’s faintly ridiculous. All that I know is that now I have one, I don’t know how I lived without it. I feel as though I’m eight years old every time I brush my hair!
Nostalgia aside, the hairbrush itself – a Denman D3 classic styling brush – is really very good. Personally I have always used my hugely expensive Mason Pearson brush, which almost requires it’s own clause in my home contents insurance; but the Denman is widely used by stylists on shoots, and it’s easy to see why. It detangles and smooths the hair quickly, and it’s anti-static. And it’s around a tenth of the price of a Mason Pearson. And it smells of dewberry….
Dewberry Shower Gel, £3.99 from The Body Shop, and Denman Fragranced Brush, £7.25 from Boots.
