The new Clarisonic Mia 2 comes with a new beepy function and its very own plastic coffin. I have to say that it’s the plastic case, or “Ghost of Clarisonics Past” that I like most about the new version – the beeps don’t really do it for me. I mostly ignore them anyway, spin-brushing away until I realise that half an hour has gone by and I have no face left. (JOKE! I do not do this, and it doesn’t take my face off. I do not want to get sued.)
I fell out of love with the Clarisonic, for a while. I think it was mostly because the brush went a bit brown and I couldn’t get it clean. It just felt a bit…ugh. And I didn’t want to fork out for a new one when I hadn’t really used the old one all that much. So recently I soaked the brush head in a solution of something very dangerous and quite possibly caustic (don’t try this at home kids!) and then rinsed a LOT for a few days with cold water. It came up a treat! I’m pretty sure that using my Clarisonic a couple of times a week as a deep cleanse has helped in getting rid of those pesky breakouts. It does remove more dirt than manual cleansing, and that’s a fact. I’ve experimented! I know there are some people out there who can’t stand this particular beauty tool, but the proof, as they don’t say, is in the cloth test. After normal cleansing with a cloth, there was still makeup coming off on the Clarisonic brush head. After cleansing with the Clarisonic, there was…well, there was no trace of grime. I have to point out that I used two Clarisonics for this experiment, it was all incredibly scientific. If I wasn’t such a clumsy oaf, I would have taken pictures of the various cloths and brushes, but I can’t afford to drop my DSLR or my iPhone into the bath, and once I’m out of the bath, I can’t be bothered to return to document my findings.
(On a sidenote, have I ever mentioned that about 80% of my post and video ideas are conceived in the bath tub? It’s true! I pretty much wrote this whole post in my head whilst waiting for my hair masque to take effect.)
I’ll chat some more about the old buzzy face brush quite soon when I do my skin routine update, but until then: Hear Ye, Hear Ye. The Clarisonic Mia 2, out now, has beeps and a slightly gynaecological-esque case. £130 from SpaceNK
