Charmed in Paris: Hotel La Belle Juliette

I stayed at a very charming little hotel when I was in Paris recently; La Belle Juliette. It’s in the Saint Germain area, one of my favourite parts of Paris, and it is as quiet, comfortable and chic as you could ever hope for in this kind of price bracket. (Double rooms start at around £160 through Mr & Mrs Smith.)

The decor at Hotel La Belle Juliette is quite possibly exactly what you might hope for when you visit Paris – it’s just so…French. It’s like being in a modern version of Marie-Antoinette’s private apartment, perhaps, or what I would imagine Carrie Bradshaw’s room would have looked like had she settled in Paris rather than Manhattan.

I think that I’d recommend this hotel for all types of trip – romantic, girly, business. There’s an air of luxury without it costing the absolute earth, there’s a quiet sensual vibe to it without it being blatantly sexy (see Penis Wallpaper Hotel for comparison) and it’s equally the kind of place you could enjoy an afternoon tea and a (very good, apparently) spa treatment with a girlfriend before retiring to the stylish bar for cocktails.

Rooms come with an iMac and decent internet speeds, so great for business travellers; beds are comfy, walls are just thick enough that you don’t hear absolutely everything going on around you.

Parisian hotels can be on the cramped side, with unbelievably tiny elevators and rooms barely big enough to take your shoes off in, but this one was just fine. My room (a classic, I think?) wasn’t spacious by any stretch of the imagination, but I have been browsing their website and there are loads of different room types, each with a different decorative style and ambience.

Très bien. You can find La Belle Juliette’s website here. I book my travel through Mr & Mrs Smith as I get free perks with my Smith Membership! (It’s free to join.)
