Another one for fans of the “my skin looks loads better but I’m not sure how or why” powders. Many see these brush-on complexion enhancers as being a bit pointless, but I, for one, can definitely see the difference when I use my Les Beiges or Hourglass Ambient Lighting as a finisher over foundation, tinted moisturiser or BB/CC cream. Now and then I just use them straight over my moisturiser to give a slightly more uniform and brighter complexion without adding glitter or shimmer.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder…
I have never really figured out how these powders work, they just seem to do the trick. There’s absolutely nothing going on in the concealing department, so I suppose you need to have a relatively clear complexion to begin with, but there’s nothing like a quick bash about with the Les Beiges compact to lift and subtly illuminate the skin.
I can see that Chanel’s new Infiniment illuminating powder might be more of a collector’s item for those who love the double Cs, but I have bulldozed straight on in with mine and have been using it over my current face-base choices (Max Factor’s Miracle Match and Eucerin’s CC Cream) to add a bit of healthy glow. As I say, you either “get” these powders or you don’t – the effects are very subtle – but if you like to add that final touch of polish then this one has an extra little colour boost from the peachy-coloured logo. I think that the “illuminating powder” description could be a little misleading for those expecting a blast of reflective shimmer or a Kardashian-style highlight, but for those wanting an understated sheen, it’s perfect.
You can buy Chanel’s Infiniment Illuminating Powder at House of Fraser -it’s £42.
