I love this image for the limited capsule collection from Chanel, Bombay Express. Dark eyes and nude lips on beautiful, perfect skin – the brows dark and groomed, a hint of a flush on the cheeks. You can’t see it properly in this image, but the skin is lit all over with a fine gold highlight – the Route des Indes de Chanel illuminating powder. Stunning!
I tried to recreate this look for myself – dark eyes, pale lips, gold shimmer – using the Route des Indes highlighter and Chanel’s Mirifique eyeshadow. I loved the effect and I’ll probably do a video in the very near future – I think that it needs some false lashes and a less elongated flick at the corner of the eyes, but once I’ve perfected the eye I think it’ll look great!
The press release for the Bombay Express look does cite Mirifique as the eye colour used, but on me it looks a hell of a lot more sparkly! I might try with a matte shadow and see how that turns out – I do love a heavy eye!
The gold highlighter, by the way, is fabulous. I shall be using it daily when the summer decides to make a proper appearance – and I might even add a coat of the Diwali polish to my nails for some matching glimmer!
The Bombay Express collection is at Harrods, Selfridges Oxford Street, Selfridges Manchester, House of Fraser in Glasgow and Fenwick Newcastle.
