These Burberry sunglasses are the absolute business. If someone could have read my mind and secretly designed me my perfect summertime eyewear then these oversized Gaberdine glasses would have been the result. I love the oversized frames – they feel really retro, but the pale colour of the frames and lenses stops these from being the kind of eyewear that ends up completely dominating your face. Especially if you have a ridiculously small head, like me!
The Gaberdine Collection is new for this season; it has this lovely gold detail on the arms of the sunglasses that looks like runkled-up fabric and there are quite a few different colourways and frame shapes to choose from. Despite the distinctive detailing, I think that these are quite a timeless shape and would be a great investment if you were looking for a glamorous pair of everyday sunnies. (So long as you’re not the kind of person who constantly loses or breaks their glasses – if that’s you, buy cheap! One of my best friends must have wasted thousands of pounds, over the years, buying glasses that she promptly lost…)
I have a sneaking suspicion that the particular version I’m wearing here is limited edition, as I can’t find them online – I got mine when I was working with the brand over London Fashion Week. However, the same “Oversized Round Frame” style in Fawn Pink (here, £227) is absolutely gorgeous and the perfect option for spring – especially if you’re very fair and dark frames look too stark against your colouring. My second favourite pick would be the “Mid Town Horn” – I’m really into paler frames at the moment, what with this seventies trend that’s about to start…
