Here are my 2019 favourites for skincare and haircare, including the latest shampoo discovery that actually changes the entire feel of my hair and the skincare that’ll make a proper difference to your beauty routine.
I was going to do a bodycare version of this 2019 roundup, as well as a “best books” video, but I’ve left it too late and all of a sudden the whole “best of last year” thing seems very outdated. It’s the video equivalent of being that person who’s still saying Happy New Year! to people they haven’t seen for a while – I mean when do you stop saying it? February? Move on.
I’m listing the products beneath each video pane for ease, but please do give them a click and a watch – the haircare one is particularly brief, which will no doubt make some of you ecstatic with joy.

Ruth, I started following (and subscribing AMR) in 2009, I was 20. Yes, more than 10 years ago! I followed you religiously. Then life, work, family, etc. etc. happened and I have been offline more and more often. However, today I left my morning shift, sat at home, got myself a glass of wine and decided to stay home, relax and thought of searching AMR. This video reminded me of why I started following you and how amazing your videos are, your descriptions, analogies, reviews, vocabulary… No one, no website, compares to your vlogs and your trustworthy reviews. More than 10 years later, I feel a mix of time travelling and enduring empathy. Thank you, you made my afternoon! Loved this video! Cheers from Portugal
Thank you Vera xx
Gorgeous! Great selection of products that I need to try now.
Great round-up of picks!
I’m crashing this post- sorry. It’s not as if I’m a mother of 6 yr old twins with a full time job, working away for 2 days with a to do list as long as my arm. That can’t be me as I’m lying awake thinking about your utility room, and the Studio Green paint! I love that colour but I keep thinking, I wish Ruth would look at F&B India Yellow. What a joyful colour, what depth and how Georgian!? Would make the utility a lovely place to be- uplifting, or is that a stretch? Also better for identifying big spiders on the wall and hiding cobwebs so…
Right, that’s off my chest so I can get back to my own Ocado shop and keep my snoot out of your business :) xx
Oooooooooohhhhhhhhh! I’m off to look!!!! What would you do the woodwork in?!
I’d say either a slightly off White like Wimborne or All White for a Clean finish. For drama- Railings?
It would depend I think on what natural light you get in there and how you want to feel in there :)
There’s hardly any light.
Love this round-up :-)
Hi Ruth! Please please do best books version of this! You don’t have to call it of 2019, you can just say best books recently ;)
I would love to hear your recommendations.
OK! x
Of course we’d like a makeup favs.
I used Olaplex a few years ago and loved it! Such a great list of products! X

I adore the whole Olaplex line, but only use the shampoo and conditioner every other wash, as they are too heavy for my hair otherwise.
