I’m going to be writing about Becca cosmetics quite a lot in the near future – it’s a brand that gets used so often on me at shoots and I have a few firm favourites of my own that I want to share with you too. It might take me a week or two to get around to making a video though, so in the meantime I wanted to tell you about the Enigma Palette.

This limited edition palette has changed my mind completely about mauve and purple tones. Previously a shade range that I would have run a mile from, it actually adds a very flattering warmth to colours that can otherwise look a little flat. As a blonde with slightly olive-toned skin and blue eyes, I tend to veer towards browns and neutrals and golds on my eyes, but the plummy undertones in the Enigma shades really complement my colouring.

This just goes to show how we can get stuck in a makeup rut (well I can, at least!). Even though I have different shades used on me at work all the time, I still tend to stick to the same colours to do my own makeup, turning my nose up at anything that doesn’t fit in with my idea of ‘what suits me’. I would never have picked out the Enigma palette for myself, but it’s so perfect for me! The soft fawn, Amure, is just deep enough to create a wonderful defined eye for daytime – it’s semi-matte, so works as a good base for layering other shadows over the top. Surah is a mauve, mushroomy colour with a shimmer (far right of palette) that adds an extra dimension and ‘lift’ to Amure. The deepest shade, Silesia, is a dark smoke in a demi-matte finish, perfect for adding definition and contour. I have been messing about with the palette creating different looks, and everything is really wearable.

This palette is limited edition – it was released just before Christmas. As with all of their eye colour powders, the texture is smooth and silky and highly pigmented. It lasts well without creasing, especially if you apply it over a primer or eye base. Hopefully Becca will release the shades into their permanent collection in the future, but until then, if you like what you see then grab it while you can! I’ll do a little video with this palette when I have a moment, so keep a look out for that!
