There’s not a lot to say about this gorgeous All Saints dress other than the fact that I love it so much I bought it twice. Actually I bought it once, sent it back because I thought I wouldn’t get any wear out of it, looked over the photos on this page again and then decided I simply couldn’t live without it. And so purchased it for a second time.
I’d have so many more hours in the day if online shopping didn’t exist.
Anyway, the pictures speak for themselves; this broderie anglaise dress is a whimsical boho beauty of the highest order. It looks and feels authentically vintage and can be worn as a dress or unbuttoned over denim shorts and a little white vest. Stick on some ankle boots and you’re ready to jump on a tour bus and follow a rock band up and down the dusty American highways.
Or, if you have a peacock chair that you picked up from a car boot sale for sixty quid (still can’t get over it, I’ll never stop harping on), you can float about at home pretending to be Emmanuelle.
Or, if you’re particularly imaginative, you can lie in a bed of ferns and be a fairy bride. Or sit in a dusty dining room and play a sort of retro, anti-gothic Miss Havisham.
The possibilities are endless.
Should you want an Aileen Zinnia dress from All Saints* then you’ll need to be quick. When I re-bought it last night there were just a few left in stock. (Probably because most of the UK’s stock is either on the way to my house or being returned from it, ha.) The Zinnia dress comes with the white slip beneath (though I think you could perhaps find a prettier slip, for future wears, if you scoured the vintage shops) and cinches in at the waist with a little drawstring. If I had one criticism then I’d say it sits a little full on the hips, but I’m really nitpicking here, because it’s a gem. (It’s also probably my hips, not the dress, because it looks very slim-fitting on the models online.) Great with summer sandals, cowboy boots, perhaps trainers if you were trying to be properly hipster and ironic about things, you can throw it on as a kind of long, lacy cardigan or dress it up to its full effect. It’s versatile, lacy, floaty and not so long that you get your feet caught up in it. An excellent summer buy.
You can find the Aileen Zinnia dress at John Lewis here*, All Saints here* and House of Fraser here* – everyone seems to be stocking it at £168, which I think is the sale price. I wear a small, which just about strains over my chest, so I think it’s probably a size 10/12 equivalent. God, I hope I wear a small, because that’s what I just ordered…
I love the dress, but I know I would look too ‘little house on the prairie’ in it.
Love the chair too!
Hi Ruth,
Dress looks so pretty on you. Stalking the All Saints site now. I’m an off-the-rack size 10 in Hush, not sure whether to go Small or Medium… any ideas???

Online shopping steals so many hours of the day, it is almost as bad as scrolling Instagram…
