e.l.f. Mineral Bamboo Brush Set

taklon brush set elf

I have been using these e.l.f. Mineral brushes quite a lot recently. They’re made from Taklon which is synthetic so they’re 100% cruelty free, and the handles are made from bamboo. All-in-all a good choice if you’re looking for an eco-friendly brush. As always, I feel I have to be completely honest with you and say that I don’t find synthetic brushes to be as good as natural-bristled brushes for applying powder – the bristles just don’t seem to ‘hold’ the powder so well, but I think once you get used to the different feel then they’re very useable.

The e.l.f. 5 piece brush set contains a Complexion Brush, an Eyeliner Brush, a Concealer Brush and an all-over Eyeshadow Brush. There’s also one of those brow and lash thingys which I always find to be a complete and utter waste of time unless the eyelash comb has fine metal teeth. The eye brushes are really quite excellent for applying cream or ‘wet’ formulas – the synthetic bristles are perfect for blending or precise work. The concealer brush is, again, excellent – it really smoothes cream concealers on very well indeed. The Complexion brush is beautifully soft and very well-shaped and although it’s not as easy to use as my natural bristled brushes, it costs a mere fraction of their price (it’s about one-tenth of the price of my Shu Uemura powder brush!) so you won’t hear any complaints from this corner!

The e.l.f. Mineral Bamboo Brush Set costs £20, but each brush can be bought individually for £5.50 – something worth thinking about if you’re just having a try!
