The perfect chic pairing – darkest nail polish with a vintaged, peachy-nude lipstick. If you don’t like to go too matchy-matchy with lips and nails, or you want an alternative to the usual “festive” makeup shades, then this little duo might just suit. It’s not actually sold as a duo, but when I attended a press launch for the Dior Rouge range way back in the summer, it was suggested that the two products were intended to complement one another. (There’s a clue in the shade names, too; Nuit 1947 and Grege 1947.)

Here’s Dior’s Grege along with a detailed guide to each and every one of the pores on my visage. Thank you camera. Don’t you just love the lipstick shade, though? It’s a kinder nude than some of the caramel-toned ones, especially on deadened autumn skin. This peachy neutral is great with a bold smokey eye, too – I may have to try that this weekend. In terms of lipstick texture and finish, I can’t particularly fault the Dior Rouge range; I find that I need to do little in the way of skin prep and the colour always seems to glide on very smoothly. The shades have an almost luminous quality about them, a sheen, but there’s not even a whisper of stickiness here and the colours last well.

I think that Grege 1947 may just well be my new handbag lipstick – it has the added bonus that it’s neutral enough not to need a mirror for application. Rouge Dior lipsticks are supposed to be £26 but are only £22.10 at Escentual.com here. (Don’t ask why, I have no clue.
