Posh Makeup Presents!

by | Dec 12, 2011

We all love to unwrap something posh that we might not usually treat ourselves to. Don’t we? I thought so. It might not be that the item ever makes it into our daily beauty routine, but that just heightens the sense of luxury! If the item contains shimmer and sparkles then even better – it’s brilliant, I think, to have a little bit of fun with makeup over Christmas. Y’know, in between carving the turkey, trying to stop family members from killing each other, retrieving the wish-bone from inside the dog’s mouth, tearing the skin off your bottom lip with sellotape as you hurriedly wrap presents, losing your mind…

Suitably sparkly things from some of the top makeup houses:

Chanel Levres Scintillantes Gloss in Sparkle D'OrChanel Levres Scintillantes Gloss in Sparkle D’Or. Beautiful topcoat or wear alone for some subtle Christmassy shimmer. £20 from Selfridges

dior blue tie palette

Dior Blue-Tie. This compact has been around for a little while now, but it is outrageously beautiful. Heavy, chic, and the little door that protects the lip gloss is just genius. The Blue-Tie compact would make a seriously good present for any makeup obsessive! £52 from Selfridges

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Cognac SableTom Ford Eye Color Quad in Cognac Sable. Simply amazing. If you missed my video using this palette, you can see it in action here. The shade on the top right is out-of-this-world brilliant! £62 from Selfridges

ysl The White 'Le Smoking' Tuxedo PaletteYves Saint Laurent  The White ‘Le Smoking’ Tuxedo Palette – frosty highlights for wintery faces! The three shades of white can be applied to specific areas or with a large brush for all-over illumination. Because the tones are cool, I have been using this for evening makeup but there’s no reason why it can’t be an all-day every-day kind of product! £39 from Debenhams
